Guide: Installing DEAD on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

System Requirements

Windows Pc Requirements

Minimum:
  • OS: 7+
  • Processor: Any
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 730
  • Storage: 40 MB available space
  • Sound Card: Any
  • Additional Notes: Just have a laptop or something, it doesn't really matter. I put options in the game to make it so you can turn different things that would make your pc lag down.

Recommended:
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel i7
  • Memory: 24 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 1060
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 40 MB available space
  • Sound Card: I'm not sure, just get one that works. Most graphics cards actually have this, same with motherboards. This also might be false.

What is DEAD? Features and Description

Dead is a Competitive Zombie killing game and is free to play for anyone who wants to take their mind off of life.

Dead is a Zombie focused local and online multiplayer, co-op, and Competitive PVP game.

Zombie Co-op Mode:

This mode is a kill based survival mode. This is a good way to learn how zombies, weapons, and game mechanics work without having to worry about facing off against other players in the game. Each map has a scoreboard to go along with it so you can show off to your friends.

For players who own the free game, they will get 3 maps at launch: Box, Grand Hall, and Quad. More maps may be added for free after this for the free version.

For players who own the game fully, they will get, at launch, Space Studio, Ash, and Fortress. More maps will be added as time passes.

The game is also a Community-Driven game. The discussion board will be looked at daily or hourly if I have the time to do so because people are what drives me to make content like this.

The game is a game I started making May 1st 2020. The game will have an update every chance we get depending on what's wrong or what's needed to go out. It's a fun hobby game I made because there is not a lot going on right now.

User Reviews

“Wow, that was fun. 40 minutes just flew by. Probably should get a higher score.”
10/10 – Maxum
