Guide: Installing 13 Cycles on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is 13 Cycles? Features and Description

Try to figure out the most complex rogue-lite platformer ever, I dare you.

You think this a casual game?

Think again.

You think you can only jump and run?

You actually can walk on the ceilings and the gravity flips.

You think you simply press a button to cast a preset spell?

No. You make YOUR OWN SPELLS from around 100 elements/glyphs. BILLIONS of possibilities.

You think you just press a button to attack your enemy with your weapon?

Well, the weapons are physics-based and their strength depends on impact force.

You think the terrain is set forever?

But no, you can dig through it and change it!

The game looks like it has few enemies?

Hahaha. All those enemies have randomly generated stats, behavior and spells, that mirror your element/glyph unlocks.

So do not assume. Try to figure it out by playing.
I challenge you.
And if you do - you are whether mad or a genius.

Key features:

  • Rogue-lite progression.
  • Randomly generated planetary worlds.
  • Highly customizable ability crafting.
  • Variable foes that mirror your unlocked powers.
  • Freedom of platforming and weapon motion.
  • Star events that reward you for surviving them.
  • Co-op online multiplayer of up to 3 players (open port 7777 or use Hamachi).

Lore

The primordial Chaos led to Growth
Growth eventually led to Force and order
And Force inevitably led to Rift
Rift transcended reality, leading back to Chaos
13 Cycles started and ended with Chaos
But after all that Growth the world gained consciousness
And the Force of its mind shattered it
Creating a Rift between the 4 elements
Chaos was the side where the most internal fight happened
Growth was the side of self-expansion
Force was the side of overcoming the limits
Rift was the side of understanding nonsense
Through the fight came power
Through expansion came acceptance
Through overcoming came confidence
Through understanding came vision
