Guide: Installing TAD: That Alien Dude on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is TAD: That Alien Dude? Features and Description

TAD: That Alien Dude is a retro RPG that takes you back in time to a world of analog cartoon franchises, sugary breakfast cereals, a thriving music industry, and die-cut comic book covers.

TAD: That Alien Dude®

PERMADEATH EDITION

Gameplay

You control TAD: That Alien Dude on his quest to escape the infamous Area 91, where he and his cartoon pals of yesteryear have been "protected" by the US Government since the early 1990s. Control TAD in a 2D open world with your keyboard or joypad, fighting off enemies with Pigman's Blade of Avalon, the only known weapon in the Toon Alley sector of Area 91.

With your blade, move through a postmodern map reminiscent of RPGs from "back in the day," where you'll encounter pixel perfect scientists, transhumanists, reptoids, and more as you escape a nightmare of quests, trying to take down whatever nefarious forces are truly controlling Area 91 so that you may return to Hollywoodland, and reintegrate yourself into the animation landscape of today.

With 5 Dungeons and bosses, multiple quests, and a whole lot of original pixel art with an original synthwave OST, do you have what it takes to get the highest score?

Features

* Multilevel map of Area 91, the infamous government military installation that holds living simulations, nuclear reactors, and more madness than a government regime should have access to.
* RPG mechanics: As you go on quests for your fellow captives, er, neighbors, discover the hidden secrets of Area 91 and level up your player and the Blade of Avalon's power.
* Hand drawn pixel art and original soundtrack: All pixel art and music composed especially for this release
* 5 Dungeons: Each dungeon has it's own boss, bosses move along paths based on the application of Catastrophe Theory (Oooh! Real science! KEEN!)
* Longform Animated Cutscenes: A storyline so wild and exciting, you might forget you aren't watching a Saturday Morning Cartoon show!
