Guide: Installing PWND on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is PWND? Features and Description

Get closer to victory with every “PWN” dance completed over downed opponents in this arena shooter. PWND is a no-holds-barred sport that rewards taunting, “Death is temporary, humiliation is forever!

PWND is set in an impressively jaded future (fact or fiction?), where mass-market cloning exists and the most popular sport in the world is rocket arena combat… jump, kill, humiliate, repeat.

In PWND, the kill is just the beginning. In order to score, you must PWN by performing a close range victory dance over your downed opponents. Be careful, you’re completely vulnerable while you taunt, and you'll find yourself on the wrong end of a PWN Stack if your teammates don't protect you.

Situational awareness and team communication are critical for pulling major PWNage. As stakes get higher and higher over the course of a match, teamwork becomes even more important. Experiment with different combinations of characters to find the perfect blend of skills and abilities for your crew.

FEATURES:
  • Multiplayer maps designed for death-defying vertical combat.
  • 5 characters with unique play styles of varying strength and vulnerability
  • 20 Single Player Challenge Mode Levels to hone and tone your PWN skillz.

Brought to You By

  • Founders of Treyarch (that Call of Duty company).
  • Veterans from Armored Warfare, The Evil Within, Borderlands 2: Mister Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sorcery, and many more.
  • Leading YouTubers, Twitch Streamers, and your favorite purveyors of gaming culture.

PWND is designed to be the fastest f-ing FPS in existence, where every match is a rocket-jumping blur of high-altitude action. Each character has their own set of skills for you to master on the road to victory.

The action doesn't stop when your opponent is crawling and wheezing their last pitiful breath. What fun is that? Big scores come from the PWN, a display of weaponized disrespect atop prone opponents. Rub it in, but be careful: strategy and teamwork are required lest you lose the war.

Swagger baby, it’s all about smooth buttery style in this throwdown town. Collect PWN stamps, skins, and gear to keep it fresh. A badge of pride for you, a mark of shame for your competitors.

VanossGaming, TheSyndicateProject, H20 Delirious, DaithDeNogla, Smii7y, Ms_Vixen, GoldGlove, MiniLadd, Miss Mae, and dozens more are playing PWND. What’re you waiting for? Join the party!

User Reviews

“Pwnd is by far the fastest paced shooter I have played in a long time. It echoes games like CS: GO, Unreal Tournament, and of course, Quake Arena.”
Nerd Reactor

“Hilariously over-the-top and thrillingly addicting, PWND is a crazy shooter game that combines rocket arena-style combat with “excessive celebration.” This game is as enjoyable as it is obnoxious, and it unapologetically encourages every player to be a bad loser and a shameless winner”
Gaming Cypher

“Overwatch and Quake had a baby called PWND”
