Guide: Installing Dragon Souls on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Dragon Souls? Features and Description

Dragon Souls is a game allowing players to play as a dragon - terrorizing denizens and taking their gold.

Dragon Souls will allow you to play as a dragon in one of the available dragon flights: Black, Red, Green, Blue. The goal is simply collecting all of the relics scattered throughout the world. But, with denizens, cities, and other dragons out to take these same items from you, it's easier said than done.

The denizens of our world have no hope of standing against you, once you mature. But, as these pesky beings tend to group up, your threat grows as they evolve through the story and gain power of their own. You'll need to stay one step ahead of your targets to complete the campaigns.

This is a game about playing as a truly terrifying dragon, not lumbering reptiles with wings and one slow/avoidable attack. You should expect to always be on your toes, quickly moving and positioning while your abilities, which will be made more powerful with leveling and the expansion of your dragon's power.

You are in control of a single dragon which can battle in air or on land. Our combat system is fast paced and involves physical, magical, and ranged combat. As with other similar games, certain combinations of spells, abilities, or items will naturally synergize.

What will your reign of terror be like?

All dragons love gold - but the root of this love is more than just fascination - it is the source of all your power. As you collect gold your dragon will increase in power, level, and size.

This is your most significant resource and is earned by killing denizens and their dwellings. The cities and the travelers between them must be "liberated" of their burden so you can gain power. To best leverage resource acquisition, you will need to prioritize your targets to maximize your power growth.

Of course, the larger cities will contain more gold, but also much more advanced defenses.

Throughout the world, there are random relics scattered about. These relics are the claim to the throne for the dragon world. Once all relics are returned to a dragon's den or the board is completed with the relic in possession, the relic can be used in other levels.

The greatest part about Relics is how they can help you. They aren't just items of "great power" collected for the throne. Each relic grants a special ability which you can use once collected.

Some boards may have only a few relics, while others may contain many more. Using the abilities on the "fly" and altering your play style to best leverage your abilities and available relics is the key to winning this game.

We have many ideas on how this game could evolve into a much greater game, but first we want to get player feedback and get the initial concept published. Here are some of our ideas. Please make sure to let us know how you feel about each of them. We invite the feedback.

Player vs. Player
As we had to step back from our original plans of player vs. player, this is the first major enhancement we intend to add to the game.

Factions
Each dragon starts in a particular faction. The denizens of that faction will be friendly, so dragons would need to travel to other factions to gain gold. Possibly introduce a partnership with denizens for gathering by launching raiding parties against other dragon dens.

Team Play
Solo play has it's problems. Some form of team play is planned for the future. This may be accomplished solely through factions, maybe more.

Questing
A good quest line can build an amazing story. Plan to see Elder Dragons doling out quests with deep story.

Denizen Riders
What better way to have new abilities introduced than by dragon riders there to help. Archers, mages, who knows…
