Guide: Installing Yuumi-Chan: Rent is Due! on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Yuumi-Chan: Rent is Due!? Features and Description

In this city, not even the power of friendship can stave off the threat of rising housing costs. So, put on your glittery big girl gloves, and get ready to punch, bash, thwack, and twinkle through enemies to rack up a small fortune of rent funds in Yuumi-Chan: Rent is Due!

In Yuumi-Chan: Rent is Due!, use your guts and your glitter to blast through baddies on an ultimate quest to save your apartment!

When the sweet, caring, and nearly evicted Yuumi makes a chance encounter with her new best friend-cat-fish-thing, she suddenly finds her cute little hands wrapped up with a whole lot of magic. Together with her peculiar familiar, she now has but one objective: obliterate her enemies and turn them into cash! If she can do just that, she might scrounge up enough coin by the end of the week to still have a place to sleep next month!

Yuumi-chan isn’t your typical magical girl – she has bills to pay. In Yuumi-Chan: Rent is Due!, brawl in the streets alongside your fishy furry friend to rack up cash and defeat the most evil villain of all time: urban housing costs.

Any weapon will have to do with a budget this tight!

Yuumi-chan doesn’t have the funds to buy her own artillery, so she’ll have to give the city a taste of its own medicine. Pick up bottles, street signs, lampposts, anything you can get your sparkly gloves on to hand it to your opponents. You can even fistfight if you want to. Captain Sailor will get a kick out of it.

What the heck kind of name is Captain Sailor??

A very nice one, thank you, and he’s your magical familiar! When Captain, the wonderful flying shark-cat-fish-thing, finds you down on your luck, it’s his generosity and graciousness that grants you your new powers. Cast powerful spells to obliterate foes and dash down alleyways, or try self-casting to give yourself a little boost.

Do I have to practice responsible spending, even in a video game?

Nothing says realism like the timeless dilemma of saving versus spending. While Yuumi-chan, the responsible magical girl she is, emphasizes saving her cash for the rent due at the end of the week, it can be hard to resist Captain’s catalog of status upgrades. Spend cash every night to power up throughout the week and reap even greater rewards on the streets! So, are you ready to fight evil and eviction?

Yuumi can utilize the mystifying power of her left and right leg to walk through the city, using W, A, S, and D controls. Use LMB to throw a basic punch attack, or equip different weapons scattered throughout the city with E to access unique physical combos.

Throughout the week, Yuumi’s darling familiar will teach her new magical abilities to enhance her lethality:

★ Magical Rainbow Dash with L SHIFT

 ★ Magical Heal with Q

 ★ Magical Beam with RMB

 ★ Magical Boost with R

And, of course, feel free to pull up Yuumi’s dazzling mobile device to pause the game and mess with the game settings using the ESC button.

Gear up, glam up, and face off against the city streets - for cuteness sake, your rent is due!
