This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Atomic Particle Engine (APE) is an interactive particle sandbox and music-reactive visualizer. Create explosive particle effects, generative patterns, and abstract visuals that respond to your input and audio in real time.
Atomic Particle Engine (APE)Atomic Particle Engine is a real-time particle sandbox and generative visualizer designed for experimentation, creativity, and relaxation.
Create glowing particle explosions, evolving abstract patterns, and physics-driven visual effects that respond to your mouse movement, clicks, and audio input.
APE transforms your screen into a dynamic canvas where particles react, disperse, collide, and form mesmerizing structures.
Whether you want to explore generative visuals, experiment with interactive effects, or simply relax while watching particles dance to music, APE offers a lightweight and endlessly variable visual playground.
Move your mouse across the screen to generate particle trails, bursts, and evolving patterns.
Click to unleash explosive effects that scatter particles across the screen, forming expanding waves of motion and light.
Experiment with different modes and palettes to create unique visual styles ranging from calm atmospheric effects to chaotic particle storms.
Every interaction creates new outcomes.
APE can react to audio input, allowing particles to respond dynamically to sound.
Music, beats, and amplitude changes influence particle intensity and visual energy, turning your screen into a living music visualizer.
Watch patterns evolve as audio drives the movement and behavior of particles.
APE includes multiple visual modes and effects including:
• Particle trails and glowing motion paths
• Radial bursts and explosive dispersal effects
• Kaleidoscope-like mirrored patterns
• Abstract symbol formations
• Dynamic color palette systems
• Gravity wells that bend and attract particles
These systems combine to produce evolving visual compositions that are never exactly the same twice.
APE can be enjoyed as an interactive sandbox or as a passive visual experience.
Let particles drift, collide, and disperse while ambient motion fills the screen with evolving patterns.
Perfect for experimenting with generative art or simply enjoying hypnotic particle visuals.
• Interactive particle simulation sandbox
• Real-time music-reactive visuals
• Multiple particle generation modes
• Dynamic color palette system
• Symbol generation effects
• Gravity wells and particle attraction systems
