This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Loot. Descend. Siege. The deeper you go, the deadlier it gets — and the better the drops. Capture a castle, hold it through 100 waves of invaders, and face a Final Boss that only a Mythic weapon can kill.
"This is an early Alpha build. Major content updates are actively in development."
Wispip's Siege is a 2D action-adventure siege sandbox set in a dark, procedurally generated world. Descend from the perilous surface through underground caverns, deep ruins, and the deadly Abyss — each layer more dangerous and rewarding than the last.
There is no crafting. Everything you need comes from the enemies you slay.
The world is yours to discover — but its greatest rewards are locked behind its greatest dangers. Hunt down rare drops, secure checkpoints, and push deeper into the Abyss to find the gear that will change everything.
Drop-Based Progression Six tiers of loot — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and the ultra-rare Mythic — all earned in combat. No grinding menus. No crafting tables. Kill enemies, take their gear, and get stronger.
Procedurally Generated World Every run generates a unique world across four distinct biome layers: Surface, Underground, Deep, and the Abyss. Explore at your own pace or push hard for the endgame.
Castle Siege Capture a castle using a Siege Scroll — rare drops from the strongest enemies in the Abyss. Once the castle is yours, the real fight begins.
100-Wave Defense After capturing a castle, survive 100 waves of relentless invaders. Only then will you face the Final Boss — and only a Mythic weapon can bring it down.
Checkpoints & Teleport Discover checkpoints throughout the world to anchor your progress. Fast-travel between them via teleport — though the cooldown will keep you honest.
Food & Survival On the surface, food pickups keep you alive. Let your food meter run dry and your HP starts draining. Manage your resources or die.
5 Save Slots Pick up where you left off across up to five independent save files, each showing your power level, items found, and last played date.
Expect rough edges, frequent updates, and a game that grows with your feedback.
