This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

WinMon is a cozy–yet–chaotic idle and farming hybrid game where you raise, feed, and command adorable tiny monster creatures known as WinMons to join capitalism. Whether you’re grinding through study sessions or surviving long workdays, your WinMons are always by your side on your desktop screen—cute, curious, and just a little too eager to bite into some Cybugs. But most importantly, they are just like you, living as corporate slaves, extracting their own life essence to produce items. Welcome to their tiny playground, where life is as much about eat, work and sleep.
Your WinMons will take a stroll around, hunt Cybugs when hungry, and work on machines—or themselves—even when you’re away. But to keep them efficient and cheerful, you’ll need to manage their hunger and rest. Each action they take shapes how your tiny ecosystem thrives—or collapses into bankruptcy.
WinMons get hungry over time. Let them hunt Cybugs to stay healthy and active. A full belly means better performance and happier moods—ignore their needs for too long, and they might refuse to work… leading to the worst consequence of them all, no money!
Every WinMon can learn a Profession that defines their role in the playground—like Seeders who sow seeds, Waterers who water and Lighter who support photosynthesize. Some machines only run when the right WinMons with the right Jobs are assigned to them, so plan your team carefully. Train, specialize, and balance your crew to build the most efficient tiny automatic farm possible.
Build and upgrade interactive buildings that automate your playground—from Plantation and Magic Tree to Energy Factory to generate electricity. Each building changes how your WinMons live and work, but they won’t run themselves—your team’s Jobs are the key to keeping the gears turning.
As your WinMons work and produce items, they’ll consume the items they make to evolve into stronger, rarer forms with higher working capability, slowly turning your army into a fashion show of cool WinMons.
