This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Some moments wish they never happened. After the accident you caused, you hide in a remote Anatolian village where secrets linger in the shadows of mosques. In this psychological horror by two developers, can you face your conscience? No escape. Only confrontation.
A horror story you cannot escape from your past.
What begins with a single accident pulls you away from the city and into the heart of a forgotten village. Here, time is fractured, memories are incomplete, and every silence whispers something unseen.
As the player confronts their past, they face not only darkness, but deeply buried guilt. The houses may seem abandoned, but you are being watched. The doors are not locked — the memories are.
Curse: The First Knot delivers an atmosphere-driven psychological horror experience, built on environmental storytelling and a slowly escalating tension rather than constant shock. Jump scares are merely a tool; the true fear lies in realizing what is happening, piece by piece.
A dark narrative blending psychological and paranormal horror
Unique locations and storytelling inspired by Anatolian culture
Exploration-focused gameplay driven by environmental interaction
Notes, photographs, and scenes that gradually uncover the story
Immersive sound design that lets silence do the frightening
The events depicted in this game are inspired by a true story. Coincidences are not limited to what is told. Some moments wish they had never happened, and some mistakes wish they had never been made. But on that night — on the icy road hidden beneath the snow — a single moment of distraction behind the wheel changed everything.
This village knows you.
You don’t have to speak.
Curse:First Knot places strong emphasis on faithfully representing the architectural and cultural identity of the region in which it is set. Mosques, cemeteries, and other religious symbols featured in the game are included solely to strengthen the atmosphere and ground the narrative in an authentic setting.
These elements are used purely for artistic purposes and are not intended to offend or disrespect any religious values. Our goal is to convey the mystery and tension within this deeply rooted culture in its most natural form.
Curse:First Knot was developed by a small but passionate two-person team, with fear and mystery woven into every frame. Our goal is not simply to deliver momentary jump scares, but to tell a deep and unsettling story that lingers in your mind.
Thank you for joining us on this journey and for supporting independent game development. Every piece of feedback you share will help guide us as we work to untangle the knot.
