Guide: Installing FOG on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is FOG? Features and Description

You have just escaped a murderous cult that has now summoned a ginormous being to track you down. It and the ones it controls will stop at nothing to hunt you down while you try to find food, money, and anything else you can use to survive in this horror roguelike adventure.

A fun road trip where nothing bad is going to happen!

In FOG, you have just escaped a murderous cult that has now summoned a ginormous being to track you down. It and the ones it controls will stop at nothing to hunt you down while you hop in your RV and select locations from your map to find food, money, and anything else you can use to survive.

Activate radio towers to damage the man watching you. Visit treasure zones to loot corpses and salvage the remains of what the creatures lurking in the fog have left behind. Visit shops that sell some questionable products. From forests to mountains to towns to ranches, the places you go will make every run unique.

Run, hide, and do whatever it takes to survive the 12 unique monsters lurking around every corner. Some can hear you. Some can see you. Some don't like eye contact. Some like it too much. The creatures you encounter may vary depending on your progress on your journey. Learn what you can about each one and plan accordingly.

Use the items you find along the way to deal with what tries to kill you. Low health? Drink some Bruce Juice! Feeling bored? Turn on some music to jam out using your loudspeaker! Getting confronted by a cultist? Let’s hope that gun you bought was real!

Are you into lore? This game has tons of it. Each question you find the answer to is just going to lead to more questions! Get out the corkboard because the contents of this game will get you scratching your head as you dig through the files and obsess over tiny details that really don't matter!

Whether you want to write the lore for me find the secrets of the lore, let out a good scream, optimize your runs, break the game inside and out, or just have a casual experience while you try not to piss yourself, this game has something for everyone.
