Guide: Installing SanGuo Tactics: Touch to Match on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

⚡ Read This First: Is This Game for You?

  • Players who love the crisp sensation of "popping bubble wrap" or are obsessed with organizing colors like a Rubik's Cube.
  • Players who want to sneak in a quick game on a corner of their screen while "slacking off" at work.
  • Impatient players who reject tedious grinding: No slow intros, no complex systems to learn—just jump in and play.
  • Minimalists: Players who dislike excessive visual effects and clutter, seeking only core gameplay.
  • Players with poor internet connections (or completely offline) who want a quick session during fragmented free time.
  • Fans of Chibi (Q-style) art and Match-3 games.

🎮 Game Introduction

This is an "Arcade-Style" Match-3 game that returns to the essence of gaming.
SanGuo Tactics: Touch to Match abandons tedious meta-progression, focusing entirely on the strategic deck-building of generals and the satisfying manipulation of 2x2 blocks.

There are no stats locked behind endless grinding, nor are there complex equipment systems.
As a pure premium indie game, you only need to move your fingers, stack blocks, and tap to eliminate them. Accompanied by crisp sound effects, watch as your army of Chibi soldiers rushes like a tide towards the enemy, enjoying a pure dopamine rush!

✨ Core Features

🧠 Pure Strategy: Team Building is Deck Building
No outside upgrades! No grinding for levels!
Strategy is entirely reflected in your "Pre-match Preparation." The game uses a unique "Pick 5 from 9" mechanic:
There are 9 types of blocks in the game (6 troop types + 3 special items), but in a single match, the board will only feature 5 types.
Which 5? It depends entirely on the Generals you bring!

Want to play a Cavalry Rush? You must bring Cavalry Generals so Cavalry blocks will appear on the board.
Want to play Defensive? Bring Shield and Fire Attack Generals to increase your base HP and prepare fire torches to burn your opponent.
General Traits: Generals not only determine block types but also buff their respective troops or unlock special artifacts.
All strategic decisions are made the moment you click "Start Game." The rest is a contest of pure skill and a bit of luck.

👆 Unique Feel: The Art of 2x2 Synthesis
This isn't just simple matching; it's spatial magic.
Your ultimate goal is to synthesize "2x2 Big Blocks" and tap to eliminate them. Different big blocks have different effects: summoning troops to charge, restoring morale, healing, setting fires, or even resetting the entire board!

No Dead Ends: Unlike traditional Match-3 games, all small blocks can be clicked to eliminate them. You can clear small blocks to adjust the layout and pave the way for big blocks.
Manual Trigger: The synthesized big blocks must be clicked by you to activate. It is you, not the system, who decides the timing of the burst!
Gravity Control: You can change the direction of gravity (Up, Down, Left, Right) at any time, using physics to create opportunities.

⚔️ Battlefield Tactics: Counters & Morale
Elimination is just the means; victory is the goal. This game recreates the pressure of a real battlefield:

Unit Counters: There are clear counter relationships between different troop types. Observe the enemy lineup and use counters to turn the tide even when outnumbered.
Battle Line Pressure: There is a dynamic "Battle Line" in the center. If the line is pushed past the center by the enemy for too long, your morale will drop continuously, making the situation critical.
Morale Determines Production: Morale directly affects the number of troops generated! When morale is high, clearing a big block summons more soldiers; if morale is low, troop production drops, making a comeback much harder.

🧑‍🎨 About the Developer & AI Statement

A Tribute to Classics:
This game pays homage to the classic Symbian era game "Point & Click Three Kingdoms" (指点三国), hoping to bring back the pure joy of playing anytime, anywhere.

Portable & DRM-Free:
For this convenient experience, this game is completely DRM-Free and does not force Steam online checks.
You can play completely offline (no fear of bad internet), or even copy the game to a USB drive, carry it with you, plug it into any computer, and play instantly.

🤖 About AI Technology:
Due to the limited energy and budget of a solo developer, the art assets in this project were generated using AI technology.

Final Words:
As a small-scale game made by a single person, it may not be perfect, nor does it have flashy visual effects, but I have poured my heart into the core gameplay.
If there are any design flaws, I ask for your understanding, My Lords. I hope it brings a smile to your face. Thank you for every click and your support!
