This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
There is Bo Le in the world, and then there is a thousand mile horse. Thousand mile horses are often present, but Bo Le is not. You will become the role of Bole visiting China's major historical sites, selecting the thousand-mile horse of your heart from among the multitude of horses.
This year is the Chinese New Year of the Horse. Wishing you a prosperous and auspicious Year of the Horse!
Bole refers to those in Chinese history who excelled at identifying talented horses, and has since come to signify individuals skilled at discovering and nurturing talent. You will play the role of Bole, traveling to major historical sites across China to select the thousand-mile horse of your choice. Even if you fail to find one, it matters not—for there is a well-known Chinese idiom, Sai Weng Shi Ma, Yan Zhi Fei Fu, which means when the old man on the frontier lost his steed, who could tell it was not a blessing in disguise? This idiom means that while a loss may seem unfortunate at first, it may ultimately lead to unexpected benefits.
Gameplay is simple—all you need is your mouse. Each level features a magnificent historical site. All you need to do is find the horse you think is most likely the thousand-mile horse in the historical site, then click on it. If you're correct, you'll advance to the next level and discover a brand-new destination. If you make a mistake, no worries—just try again. The game encompasses nearly all of China's famous historical sites, with each location artistically rendered to showcase its most iconic scenery. We've designed hundreds of horses featuring Spring Festival elements. We've also created an original soundtrack blending traditional Chinese music, performed with both traditional Chinese instruments and modern Western instruments. This allows you to better understand Chinese history and culture while searching for the thousand-mile horse.
Come and find the thousand-mile horse that belongs to your heart!
