Guide: Installing STAB! on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is STAB!? Features and Description

STAB! is a competitive 2–4 player card game where the only rule that matters is simple: trust no one. Build temporary alliances and betray them at the exact moment it hurts the most! In this game, loyalty is an illusion and survival depends on how well you can deceive everyone at the table.

The Table Where Friendships Are Tested!

STAB! combines strategy, bluffing, and social tension to create different stories and unforgettable moments with every gameplay. Don't trust your friends. Don't trust the rules. Just try to avoid the stab.

How to Play?

  • The game is played with 2–4 players.

  • At the beginning of each round, players are dealt 6 cards.

  • A card is revealed in the center, and players play 1 card in turn.

  • If you play a card of the same value as the last card in the center, you take all the cards in the center, and these are recorded as a "stab" (penalty points).

  • The more you get stabbed, the closer you are to death.

  • Cards have different stab values.

  • Special cards can instantly change the course of the game.

The balance of the table changes every round. Who is ahead, who is sinking, who is waiting silently... it becomes clear again with every move.

At the end of the game:

  • Eliminated players are left to die.

  • The last person standing survives.

Make your plan, wait for the right moment. But remember: Everyone gets stabbed at some point.

Why Will You Love STAB!?

  • Strategic decision-oriented gameplay Every move carries risk; wrong decisions lead to long-term consequences.

  • Design built on social tension Players try to both stab others and protect themselves.

  • Simple rules, deep interaction Easy to learn, hard to master.

  • Dynamic game flow Thanks to special cards, the balance constantly changes.

  • Constant possibility of a comeback No one falls completely out of the game.

  • High replayability Every game produces different stories.

  • Balanced structure for 2–4 players Fast-paced and controlled competition for small groups.

  • Competitive but accessible Offers deep strategy but doesn't exhaust.
