This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
RoRoKaii Works’ Debut: A cozy idle game focused on collecting. No complex strategies—just watch numbers grow as you hone 15 unique skills. With the Mastery System, collect any item 100 times to gain bonus EXP and fuel your journey toward perfection.
The first game released by RoRoKaii in 100 years. It carries a tiny fraction (roughly 1/999,999,999) of all the "if I ever made a game" ideas RoRoKaii has had over the past 2/12 years.
A simple, relaxing idle game centered around skills, leveling, and collecting. As the debut title from RoRoKaii Works, it is proudly labeled a "Return to Roots" project, boldly embracing the design philosophy of: "We finally figured it out."
In this game, we care about the "bond" you form with every single item.
Mastery System: Every item can be mastered. Obtain an item 100 times, and you achieve "Mastery" for it.
Experience Feedback: Mastery is more than just a title. It provides vital Mastery XP, allowing your professional proficiency to reach new heights.
A Collector’s Paradise: Every ore you mine and every fish you catch is more than just a consumable—they are the stepping stones on your path to perfection.
There are 15 trainable skills in total, covering everything from production to exploration.
Some skills will make you filthy rich.
Some skills will bring you world-renowned fame.
And some skills... honestly, I just added them because 15 felt like a nice, even number. But who knows? They might suddenly become useful one day.
Stress-Free Control: No complex combos, no patterns to memorize, and no pressure to find the "optimal route."
As You Wish: You only need to decide: "Right now, I want to make this number bigger." And then, it will truly, slowly, and steadily get bigger. It’s magical, isn't it?
Day & Night Companion: Built-in Light and Dark themes. Your eyes are safe, even during those late-night sessions.
To put it simply: This is exactly the kind of idle game you’ve been imagining.
