Guide: Installing PoliCromix on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is PoliCromix? Features and Description

PoliCromix is a strategic online TCG where placement matters. Deploy cards on dynamic boards, trigger automatic battles through directional attacks, and grow your collection while competing against real players across multiple universes.

PoliCromix is a strategic online card game where placement matters more than reflexes. Instead of traditional turn-based duels, battles unfold on dynamic boards where cards interact automatically through directional attacks, making positioning, timing, and board control the heart of every match.

          Strategic Board-Based Combat

Each match is played on a board where players take turns placing cards. Cards attack automatically based on their directional arrows, triggering battles the moment they are positioned next to opponents. Smart placement can flip enemy cards, control key areas, and completely change the flow of a match.

Battles are fast to learn but rich in depth, rewarding foresight, adaptation, and experimentation rather than complex inputs.

          Multiple Battle Formats

PoliCromix supports several ways to play:

          • Player vs Bot (1v1): Training and story battles designed for learning, experimentation, and structured challenges.

          • Player vs Player (1v1): Competitive online matches against real players.

          • Multiplayer Boards (up to 8 players): Special boards allow large-scale battles where multiple players fight for control at the same time, creating unpredictable and highly strategic encounters.

All multiplayer matches are played online with real players.

          Storybooks & Fantasy Campaigns

Several universes in PoliCromix feature storybooks: fantasy campaigns that combine narrative and gameplay.

Storybooks are structured into chapters and scenes, presented through dialog, visual-novel storytelling, or comic-style flipbooks. Each scene may include story segments, battles against bots, or both. As players progress through a storybook, they unlock exclusive boards that become permanently available for replay and even for PvP battles.

Storybooks are not just narrative content; they expand the game by introducing new boards, unique encounters, and themed gameplay experiences.

          Progression That Matters

Progression in PoliCromix happens on two levels:

          • Player progression, earned by competing in matches.

          • Card progression, earned by actively using cards in battles.

Cards grow stronger the more they are used, unlocking their full potential over time. Progression is always forward and has a meaningful impact on gameplay, making long-term investment in your favorite cards both rewarding and strategic.

Training and story battles offer reduced progression, keeping competitive play as the primary path for growth.

          Farming & Long-Term Investment

In addition to active play, PoliCromix offers an optional Farm system. Cards placed in the farm continue developing while you’re away, allowing unused or underleveled cards to grow in the background. Farming is a paid, optional feature designed to complement gameplay -not replace it- and to keep larger collections relevant over time.

          Universes, Boards & Variety

PoliCromix spans multiple fantasy universes, each with its own tone, characters, and boards. Some boards are unlocked through storybooks, while others appear as seasonal boards that introduce special rules and unique cards available only during that season through gameplay.

Not every card is obtained through packs. Some exist only within specific boards or scenarios, emphasizing gameplay variety over pure collection.

          Earning Cards & In-Game Economy

Cards in PoliCromix can be earned by playing. Defeating bots, winning battles, and progressing through the game allows players to expand their collection naturally. Card packs are also available through the in-game shop and can be obtained using in-game currency earned through play or through optional purchases.

The shop offers flexible ways to grow your collection, while all newly acquired cards always match your current progression level. Skill, strategy, and smart decisions -not spending- remain the foundation of success.

          Fair & Flexible Play

PoliCromix is free to play. Optional purchases provide convenience and access to additional content, but progression and competitive outcomes are driven by gameplay, positioning, and long-term mastery rather than shortcuts.
