This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Zero Mana. Massive Debt. No Mana, Just Dice is a tactical turn-based roguelike. Play as a dropout witch who needs dice just to take a single step! Use your limited dice to maneuver and attack, outsmart your bad luck, and seize the wish-granting scroll to rewrite your fate.
Meet the disgrace of a prestigious magical family: a 'Zero Mana' dropout witch. All she has are massive debt and a set of 'sketchy, defective dice' bought from a loan shark. To overturn her miserable fate, she reluctantly enters the dungeon to find the legendary 'Wish-Granting Scroll.'
She acts like a cool, dark mage on the outside, but inside? She’s trembling in her boots. At every crossroads of fear, guide her with your 'Perfect Strategy!'
"Use the dice to run, or use them to fight?"
Perfect Information: Enemy actions are 100% telegraphed. Find the optimal ratio between movement and offense each turn.
Desperate Resource Management: You hold only 4 dice. Use a high roll to sprint away, and you lose firepower. Go all-in on the attack, and you're a sitting duck. Every die counts.
If the dice won't listen, just change the 'Scroll'.
Rethinking Dice Values: Every scroll interprets numbers differently. A generic '1' could be a failure on one scroll, but a critical hit on another.
4 Scrolls, Condensed Strategy: You can only bring 4 scrolls into battle. Find the perfect balance between range, AoE (Area of Effect), survival, and impact.
Dice-Driven Tactics: A desperate survival roguelike where every action—from walking to striking—hinges on your dice rolls.
Telegraphed Combat: Enemy intents are fully visible. Enjoy the strategic thrill of allocating limited dice between 'Survival (Move)' and 'Impact (Attack).'
Dynamic Scroll Deck-Building: Collect scrolls that change range and effects based on dice values. Control every variable with a compact deck of 4 scrolls.
