This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Overworked office worker Tsutomu, his ramen blog dying, stops at a station-side stall and orders six toppings. A kids' rumor says six makes you vanish. His heart sinks into history's dark.
This is a story-driven walking simulator horror game (featuring occasional light action sequences, unique stealth mechanics, and simple puzzles). It is designed as a casual, simple adventure game where you progress by walking, exploring, and triggering flags through conversations and events.
The estimated playtime is around 2 hours.
The protagonist, Tsutomu, is a salaryman overwhelmed by his job. Even his long-running ramen blog has nearly stopped updating as he finds himself pushed to his mental and physical limits.
One night, on his way home from work, he stops by a ramen stall near the station for a change of pace and decides to order his noodles with more deluxe toppings than usual. However, there is an urban legend whispered among children about this particular stall.
"If you eat it with 6 toppings, you will disappear."
Unaware of the rumors, Tsutomu adds the six toppings, crosses a boundary, and meets Susumu—a streamer who reviews ramen. Together, they are drawn into the history of the town surrounding the stall. The karma connecting the town and ramen stretches back to the Heian period, and eventually begins to eerily overlap with present-day events.
Heart, food, and karma. When these intertwine, a terrifying battle you never imagined begins.
A simple adventure format where you progress by walking, exploring, and engaging in conversations and events.
A horror game themed around Japanese ramen—surprisingly rare.
Despite the absurd premise, the story unfolds quite seriously, interspersed with a casual atmosphere.
Features extensive dialogue that fleshes out character relationships and backgrounds. (Japanese text includes furigana for easy reading.)
Includes light action and puzzle elements in certain scenes. Clearing the game unlocks a standalone challenge mode.
Includes a hidden collection element: "Barrel Collecting" (Taru-atsume)—nice to have, but not essential.
