This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

A series of mysterious child disappearances strikes a small town. Four children vanish without a trace. That evening, the town office receives a distress call from the former lord’s lakeside mansion — a place three days away on foot, with no record of any travel reaching it. It is as if the children were transported there out of thin air.
Worse still, the mansion has long been rumored to be cursed. Ten years ago, everyone who entered it met a strange and tragic end.
Investigator Reacher and his assistant Cielle join a rescue team to find the missing children. The team includes the town’s mayor, a town official, a sheriff, a Pastor, a scholar obsessed with the supernatural, and a medium known for flawless divination.
As the search unfolds, a member of the rescue team is murdered — yet there is no sign anyone entered or left the mansion.
Is the curse real…
or is the killer among them?
While solving the mansion’s Puzzles and trying to rescue the children, Reacher gradually uncovers the long-buried tragedy hidden beneath the mansion’s dark past.

Players may choose between two play modes:
【Key Evidence Mode】
A gameplay system created by Lester.
Players mark important clues and suspicions as key evidence during investigation. Collect enough key evidence to uncover the full truth.
【Story Mode】
All key evidence is highlighted automatically. Before the ending, players must match each question with the correct evidence to reveal the truth.
Beyond investigation, players must solve 19 Puzzles throughout the mansion — perfect for fans who enjoy puzzle-driven gameplay.
No chase sequences. Only mild scare elements.
Built-in system to review current objectives and story recap, so you never lose track of where you left off.
Every Puzzle includes a hint system:
Check whether any clues are missing.
View hints once all clues are collected.
Full solutions are available if needed, ensuring smooth progression.
If the game occasionally becomes unresponsive during gameplay, this is not a bug. Please close and restart the game to resolve the issue. No report is required.
Language Support: This game supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English. You may switch languages in the Options menu.
※English Version Notice:
The title screen and chapter selection menu are currently available in Chinese only. Reference images are provided below for guidance. All other game content can be fully switched to English or includes bilingual support.
One Puzzle requires rearranging certain objects and reading an acrostic message. As this wordplay cannot be accurately localized into English, the Puzzle provides the English interpretation of the acrostic directly. All other Puzzles and hint clues have been fully localized for smooth gameplay.
Playtime: Approximately 3–8 hours, depending on puzzle difficulty and reading pace.
Streaming: Streaming is fully allowed. Streamers are welcome to contact the developer, and the developer will try to watch live streams or recorded playthroughs whenever possible.
