Guide: Installing LOOP THE LOOP The Mansion of Gluttony on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

A closed-circle mystery you solve in your head.

Twelve people wake up in an impossible mansion—and the only way out is the truth.

          Overview

The Mansion of Gluttony is a closed-circle mystery kinetic visual novel.

Twelve people wake up inside a Western-style mansion with no visible entrance or exit—and when murders begin, they must uncover who is killing them and what the “Mansion” truly is.

You experience the story through the protagonist Remi’s conversations and inner monologue, piecing together the truth as events unfold.

Format: Linear / no choices (read to a single ending)

Demo: Free demo available (Prologue + Chapter 1, ~1–2 hours)

Press & Streamers: Review keys available upon request.

          Story

          Endless, dull days.

“I wish I could escape from this world.”

Remi, a second-year high school student, carries a quiet wish like that.

One day, he opens his eyes—and finds himself in another world.

A strange, dreamlike Mansion where “you can have anything you want.”

Welcomed by eleven others who were brought there the same way, Remi spends his days in carefree happiness.

“Maybe I really can live here as a new version of myself.”

It feels like those peaceful days will last forever.

But one day, that illusion ends abruptly—

          Gameplay / System

This is a text-focused mystery / suspense visual novel.

          • Estimated reading time: ~8–12 hours (depends on reading speed)

          • No choices / no branching routes: you simply read to the end

          • Save / Load: available almost anytime; auto-saves at each chapter transition

          • Extras: after clearing the game, Sound Test and CG List unlock

          • No voice acting: designed for players who enjoy text and music

You don’t solve puzzles—you solve the mystery in your head, by following the characters’ words and actions and connecting the dots yourself.

English-only feature: an in-game Culture Note explains Japanese terms (honorifics, food, customs, etc.) so the setting stays clear without breaking the flow.

Even without choices, the fun is in watching what people say and do—and connecting the dots yourself.

No voice acting: this is for players who enjoy taking their time with text and music.

          Characters

Twelve people with very different personalities are gathered together in the Mansion.

          • Remi – A book-loving second-year high school boy and the protagonist of the story. Quiet, observant, and easily swept along by others.

          • Saeki – CEO of a well-known start-up company. The first person to arrive at the Mansion.

          • Carin – A freelance web designer. Bright, considerate, and the natural mood-maker of the group.

          • Takuto – A self-proclaimed ordinary office worker. Always joking around and goofing off, but sharp when it counts.

          • Kaede – The daughter of a traditional tea ceremony family. Calm and composed, trying her best to act like the mature voice of reason.

          • Yuki – A 19-year-old woman with a mild, laid-back personality. Enjoys crochet and baking sweets.

          • Kai – A young man who works at his family’s greengrocer. A reliable big-brother type who looks after everyone.

          • Luca – A first-year high school boy. Serious and intelligent; he quickly becomes the person Remi can talk to most easily.

          • Aki – A gifted artist who mostly shuts himself in his room, drawing. Speaks very little and remains shrouded in mystery.

          • Erika – A third-year middle school girl. Cheerful, competitive, and bursting with energy.

          • Jay – A guitarist. Acts tough and foul-mouthed, but is more kind-hearted than he lets on.

          • Aya – A first-year university student. Quiet and distant at first glance, she keeps others at arm’s length while hiding her true interests.

          Supported Languages

          • Japanese

          • English

You can switch languages from the title screen at any time.

Whether you want to enjoy the original Japanese text or read the story in English, you can play the same content in either language.

          Content Warning
