This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Late Night Tales is a visual novel with cinematic visuals, a choice based story with different endings. Play as Alfred of Wildrivers fight against the danger rising from the North. The night is waiting for you to tell its tale. 🌙✨

Alfred of Wildrivers — The Heir Who Walked Out of the Fire
Son of the revered Lord Aaron, Alfred grew up in the noble halls of Wildrivers—until the night his life was burned away. After his father's return from the northern wars, his family’s celebratory feast turned into a massacre when the manor was set ablaze. At fifteen, Alfred escaped the flames; his family did not.
He hid his identity and lived five years as a wandering traveler. Now twenty, he arrives in the capital—where the Commander of the Royal Armies, Sir Richard, finds him. Richard offers Alfred a chance to reclaim everything he lost, but under one condition: he must face and defeat the growing threat rising from the North.
He will not face this path alone; a unique company stands with him: Lilith the sorceress, Princess Camille of Northgewellgh, the moon goddess Luna, and Eva, a skilled archer from shadows.

Lilith — the Sorceress
A mystic who has walked the world for centuries, Lilith’s power is as old as the forgotten kingdoms she witnessed crumble. Her knowledge runs deeper than mortal memory yet there are things on this earth waiting to be discovered, waiting to surprise even the wisest. her magic woven from shadows, stars, and secrets. Calm yet unknowable, she offers guidance with a smile that hides both kindness and danger.

Princess Camille of Northgewellgh — Warrior Princess
Born as the only child of the last King of Northgewellgh, Camille carries the full weight of a fractured realm on her shoulders. Raised between war councils and royal decrees, she learned early that a crown is heavier than gold can show. Elegant yet unyielding, princess yet warrior. While her father was far away from the matters of his people, she has to step forward and take the lead if it is necessary.
Behind her upright posture and fighting spirit, she still carries a little girl filled with flowers and dolls.
Luna — The Moon Goddess Who Walks Among the Lost
An ancient deity of quiet light, Luna reveals herself only in the rarest moments, when a wandering soul stands at the edge of despair. Legends speak of her as a gentle, distant presence—neither demanding worship nor meddling in mortal affairs. Yet for those she deems worthy, her guidance arrives like silver dawn: subtle, cryptic, but life-altering.
Luna’s compassion is not the warmth of the sun but the calm clarity of the night. She illuminates paths without forcing a step, offering wisdom that can save a life… or reshape a destiny. Most will never glimpse her. Those who do carry her light forever.

Eva — The Silent Arrow of the Night
Once a nameless street child lost to the underbelly of the realm, Eva’s life changed the night she crossed paths with Veronica — a mysterious vampire of ancient lineage. Rather than claiming her life, Veronica saw potential in the girl’s cold focus and unshaken will. She took Eva under her wing, shaping her into a deadly blend of assassin and archer, trained to move like a whisper and strike like a falling star.
Eva serves Veronica with absolute loyalty, not out of fear, but out of a bond forged in survival and rebirth. She speaks little, feels less, and kills without hesitation — yet beneath the hardened surface lies a lingering question about her own fate. Is she merely a servant of the night, or someone capable of carving out a destiny of her own?
Where Eva walks, shadows follow. Where she aims, death answers.
