This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
P0 is a speed-running anomaly horror where you have just 10 seconds to choose a button to smash. Oh, and grades matter when competing to score a far from average desk job. So, what are you waiting for? Crash through 30 floors and into the career of your dreams! ...Your life may just depend on it.
Sick of daydreaming at your desk all day? Is the boss always shouting at you? Wish you could make the move and do something better with your life? Well, look no further than P0: Byte-Sized Brilliance, the only place in PARADISE Corp that’ll take you straight from the top of your career, right to the very bottom. But don’t worry. That’s a good thing here.
The interview to secure your job as an investigator will be a test of memory and quick reflexes. Your task is to spot an anomaly (or not), but you’ll only have 10 seconds to decide whether the floor is clear, or something is... “off”. Clear every floor to escape the loop, reach the bottom, and you might just bag that dream role.
They’re a wacky bunch at Byte-Sized, and that’s reflected in the range of anomalies on offer - from hilarious to deeply disturbing, they truly have something for everyone!
Think you know the office like the back of your hand? Think again. Randomised anomalies, fool!
You think you’re the only one looking for a job? You’ll be up against a global roster of talent, so tune in those keen eyes and get clicking to earn good grades. The quicker you spot an anomaly (or not) successfully, the higher your grade and the more credits you earn. Like any reasonable test, you will get a grade per floor, along with a predicted final grade beneath. C is the benchmark (and also stands for chump!)
Featuring three main difficulty modes to complete, it’s imperative that you bank a C or above to progress. There are additional sub-difficulties with tougher restrictions, so if employee of the month means anything to you, swotting up on anomalies will get you EVERYWHERE.
Solidify your place on the global leaderboards by having the fastest finger in the west. Regardless of mode, the quicker you complete 30 floors, the higher you climb.
Achievements can be unlocked by completing various modes, spending credits, or just being terrible. We try not to judge too harshly here.
Oh... and if you spot a red-nosed dude with big shoes, let me know, yeah? He’s become a bit of a “loose cannon” with some of our other staff members. That reminds me... has anyone seen Steve?
P0 features three types of collectibles. Some contain lore snippets; others are important memos from PARADISE and can help you spot harder anomalies. Spend your well-earned credits to buy precious clues and floppy discs to unlock more of the backstory and aid your interview.
Credits can also be spent on kitting out your desk-bound, emotional support ‘Monster Buddy’ (patent pending) with ‘Monster Mods’ (patent also pending). On behalf of our widely-praised “Positive Vibes Only” initiative, PARADISE strongly encourages bonding with Buddy.
Buddy loves it when you change his look! It’s a great way for him to express his feelings. Buddy has a lot of feelings (...too many feelings).
