Guide: Installing Treasurer on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Treasurer? Features and Description

You are the Treasurer. Balance between 4 factions, responding to their demands. Earn gold, send it on tasks with risks and rewards, invest in passive income, and account for value growth. Exchange gold for gems and develop meta-progression: strengthen starting resources and improve future sessions.

Feel like a treasurer in an ancient Slavic setting. Manage resources, respond to faction demands, assign tasks, and maintain balance between the army, the church, the treasury, and the people. Every action influences the fate of the state.

Manage four factions — the army, the church, the treasury, and the people. Each pulls the state in its own direction: support one and another will suffer. Keep the balance and don’t let any faction rise too high or fall too low.

Each faction sends you scrolls with their demands. Read them, weigh the conditions, and decide — accept or decline.

Approve one faction’s request and its resources will grow, but another faction will lose. Balance your choices wisely to keep the state stable.

You earn gold for your work as the treasurer — this is your personal balance. Invest it in faction tasks or buy upgrades, but keep your funds under control. If you fall into debt, the game ends and the state is left without a treasurer.

Exchange your gold for gems right inside the game — rare precious stones that open the path to long-term progress.

Outside of gameplay sessions, upgrade your permanent bonuses: your progress stays with you forever and makes every new attempt stronger.

Invest gems into increasing your starting gold — begin each session with a growing capital that makes the run easier and unlocks opportunities faster.

Put gems into developing your factions to raise their initial resources.

Boost the starting resources of each faction and build a foundation that helps you maintain balance from the very first moves.

Fund faction tasks with gold and direct their efforts where the state needs them most.

Await the results: a successful task brings resources and profit, while a failure takes your gold and weakens the faction.

Invest gold into factions, strengthening their influence and stabilizing your state. Choose upgrades that increase resources, expand your gold income, and help maintain overall balance.

After completing upgrades, you receive permanent bonuses — but remember: each new investment costs more, and the price rises with every level, just like in idle mechanics. Plan ahead and spend wisely.

Maintain faction balance. Don’t let any faction collapse or grow too powerful — any imbalance ends the game. Keep the state stable for as long as you can: the run lasts indefinitely as long as you hold the balance. Lose — and you start again.
