This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A cooperative (maybe sabotaging) platformer that blends action-jumping and physics simulation. You can challenge solo or team up with a friend locally or remotely in two-player mode to unlock even more unexpected ways to play. Healing balloons and time-race to unlock more subsequent levels.
A mysterious little witch dressed in dinosaur pajamas is dragged into a cyberspace by a cyber devil. She needs to find the exit in each fragment of space, while collecting healing balloons and completing time races to unlock subsequent spaces.
Game Introduction:
--------------
This is a platforming game that blends action-packed jumping with a chaotic mix of physics. As the name suggests, the core gameplay revolves around "heads." Players can throw three different types of "heads" with varying functions, or transform into the corresponding "head" to unleash its special abilities. If you haven't found a partner yet, don't worry, the levels are perfectly playable solo; however, co-op gameplay offers even more fun.
Collaboration Mode (Recommended)
--------------
In addition to cooperative gameplay, the two-player mode features an extra mechanic compared to the single-player mode: if one player dies, the surviving player can guide the deceased player's body within a certain distance to continue the level. The deceased player can be revived by collecting a "Healing Balloon" before the level is completed. If the deceased player's body is in a location where revival is impossible, they will revive at the starting point.
Split-screen:
-------------
In two-player mode, if the two players are more than a certain distance apart, the screen will dynamically split into two sections to allow players to continue the game. When the two players meet again, the screen will dynamically merge. Now, have some fun!
Regarding future update plans and bug reporting methods:
-------------
We plan to continue releasing more art-themed levels and fun maps for online multiplayer after the game's launch, all for free. This is our first time using Unreal Engine to create a game that blends animation-driven and physics-simulated mechanics, so some bugs are inevitable. We sincerely apologize to our dear players (bows). For any issues encountered while playing the game, you can use the Steam support function to find our contact email. We will also be creating a corresponding QQ group for communication later~
