Guide: Installing Guild Manager on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Guild Manager? Features and Description

Build a legendary guild from scratch. Recruit adventurers, send them on dangerous missions, and watch their stories unfold. Every decision matters. Every mission could be their last. Will your guild become legend—or just another footnote in history?

You've just inherited a fledgling adventurer's guild. Your job? Turn it into the most renowned operation in the land.

Guild Manager isn't about flashy combat or hand-holding tutorials. It's about the hard decisions that separate legendary guild masters from failures: Who gets sent on the suicide mission? Do you spend gold on facility upgrades or hire that promising mage? Can you afford to let your star warrior retire, or do you convince them to stay for one more year?

          Stories Emerge From Your Decisions

Dominic survived 47 missions without injury—until the day he didn't come back from an Epic Boss contract. Sarah's tactical brilliance saved the party three times in one week. Jonathan started as a nervous recruit and retired as a decorated veteran with two awards to his name.

These aren't scripted events. They're the natural result of your choices, RNG, and the personalities of the adventurers you've assembled.

          The Core Loop

          Each week, you'll:

          • Scout and Recruit new adventurers from a pool of 30 candidates

          • Assign Missions by forming balanced parties and choosing strategies

          • Manage Resources by upgrading facilities and training your best members

          • React to Outcomes as missions succeed, fail, or go catastrophically wrong

Every mission generates a detailed report. Sometimes your tactician devises brilliant strategies. Sometimes your healer pulls someone back from the brink of death. Sometimes someone doesn't make it home.

          Build for the Long Game

          • 52-Week Campaign per year with end-of-year awards ceremony

          • Facility Upgrades provide permanent bonuses to all adventurers

          • Epic Loot found on missions boosts your entire guild

          • Retirement System forces you to groom the next generation

          • Multiple Strategies per mission: Aggressive? Safety First? Treasure Hunters?

          • Morale Management affects success rates and party performance

          Depth Without Bloat

This isn't a game where you micromanage inventory or watch combat animations. It's pure strategic decision-making. Stats matter. Composition matters. Luck matters. But most of all, your choices matter.

You'll lose adventurers you've invested in. You'll celebrate milestones. You'll remember specific missions for years. That's the point.

          • Expect AAA production values and voice acting

          • Want to be handheld through mechanics

          • Dislike reading text-based reports

          FROM THE DEVELOPER

Guild Manager was built on a simple philosophy: management games should create stories worth remembering. Every mechanic exists to generate "Remember when..." moments.

You won't find loot boxes, microtransactions, or artificial grind here. Just pure strategic gameplay where your decisions—and a little bit of luck—determine whether your guild becomes legendary or collapses under the weight of your mistakes.

Your adventurers are counting on you. Don't let them down.
