Guide: Installing Pax Autocratica: Prologue on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Pax Autocratica: Prologue? Features and Description

Free stand‑alone Prologue. Shape a grand colony where every life bends to your will. Feel the weight of absolute power as you decree laws, then march into chaos, leading squads in roguelite FPS battles from brutal skirmishes to large-scale battlefields. Play Sector One now & wishlist the full game.

The free prologue of "Pax Autocratica" invites you to establish the foundations of the greatest regime in history in this darkly satirical totalitarian colony sim + FPS roguelite hybrid. You are tasked with managing and leading your citizens to spread your doctrine through the first sector "Elysia" and free it from the oppression of the current ruling power.

Add the Prologue to your wishlist to be notified on release. If you enjoy it, wishlist the full game.

Dictate wisely as your choices will shape society, for better or worse.

          Notes about the Prologue:

The Prologue contains a limited portion of the full game. The scale of the base and the battles is smaller than in Early Access. Certain advanced systems, such as deeper automation, mechs, and other late‑game mechanics, are not available here. Content and balance may change before Early Access release.

          Content Breakdown (subject to change):

          • 1 space sector & boss (out of 4 in Full Game)

          • 47 roguelite buffs (out of 225 in Early Access)

          • 16 buildings (out of 65 in Early Access)

          • 6 weapons (out of 18 in Early Access)

          • 3 player classes (out of 10 in Early Access)

          • 9 troop types (out of 29 in Early Access)

          • 7 policies (out of 189 in Early Access)

Mold your populace by enacting tyrannical or benevolent reforms to sway your citizens’ Fear, Happiness, Hunger, and Loyalty.

Indoctrinate them through propaganda, surveillance towers, whippings, and public executions until even their dreams serve the State.

Or rise as the benevolent visionary of a new age, providing comfort, healthcare, and prosperity to those who once despaired.

Every decree shapes the soul of your regime, and the fate of those who live beneath it.

Build your state apparatus. Turn a handful of survivors into a tightly run, self-sustaining machine.

Expand your base from a cluster of shelters into an immense complex housing a growing population, each citizen serving the grand design of your regime.

Research new technologies, buildings, and doctrines to refine your colony’s efficiency and tighten your control.

Automate production lines and streamline logistics in the full game. In the Prologue, lay the groundwork and watch facilities hum with the cold precision of industry. Every upgrade is efficiency, every structure, a testament to your vision.

You, the Leader of Auroria, will venture into the frontier of the Tyris System to conquer the fractured territories ruled by rival regimes.

Conscript new citizens, gather vital resources, trade with wandering merchants, and influence local populations through decisive acts that shift the balance of power.

Then lead your forces into battle. From desperate skirmishes to large-scale mechanized battlefields of infantry, tanks, and mechs, each victory is another step in spreading the regime.

During each expedition, choose among dozens of roguelite buffs in the Prologue (hundreds in the full game) to forge your path toward absolute supremacy.

Each campaign strengthens your base, your army and you, the Leader, alike: new resources, new recruits, and experience that unlocks advanced class skills.

No two expeditions unfold the same.

Pax Autocratica is a totalitarian colony sim and FPS roguelite hybrid that combines base building, citizen management, and first-person tactical combat in a sci-fi dystopian world. It offers a dynamic, accessible, and approachable gameplay experience for all.

It’s a game about power. How it’s built, how it corrupts, and how it consumes.

You will command armies, dictate laws, and witness consequences in every face that salutes you or fears you.

          THE STATE OBSERVES ALL

How will history remember your reign?
