Guide: Installing Gobotix: Duo on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Gobotix: Duo? Features and Description

Guide two tiny robots through clever 3D isometric puzzles; solo or in co-op. Every click adds a new note to the game’s looping beat, making each run sound unique. Free to play, with optional supporter DLCs that add nothing but love.

Welcome to the Gobotix, a robot manufacturing company that runs by robots.

In this distant future, humanity is long gone. The two bots - remnants of an advanced civilization - are undergoing a quality test to prove their worth. Yet with each completed challenge, they uncover fragments of forgotten messages from the past, learning not only about their makers but about what it means to exist.

About the Game

Step into a world where logic meets rhythm. Control two curious robots; each with their own charm and personality - through a series of mind-bending platform puzzles. Whether you play solo or cooperate with a friend, every level challenges your perception of space, timing, and teamwork.

Your goal is simple: solve puzzles, activate mechanisms, and reach the glowing portal that marks your success. But the path is never straightforward; buttons, lifts, portals, and physics-based contraptions will test your every move.

A Game That Plays Its Own Music

Every click, every command becomes part of the soundtrack. The game runs on an infinite looping beat, and each of your interactions adds a new musical note - creating a unique rhythm for every session. No two playthroughs ever sound the same.

Your puzzle-solving journey literally shapes the music.

What to expect

  • Two playable robots with distinct personalities
  • Designed for both single player and co-op play
  • Isometric 3D visuals with smooth, minimalist design
  • Reactive soundtrack that evolves with your actions
  • Clever physics elements for dynamic puzzle solving
  • Free to play — with optional DLC packs that simply support the developers

Support the Robots

The game is completely free. Optional DLCs offer no gameplay advantages; only a way to show support through the "pay what you want" options. Supporters might just see their robots react with a little extra warmth and surprise during their adventures.

The Journey Ahead

The game currently features 25 handcrafted levels, each designed to test precision, logic, and rhythm. New levels will be released as free content packages, expanding the robots’ story and world over time.
