Guide: Installing Hail the Devourer on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Hail the Devourer? Features and Description

Hail the Devourer is a darkly satisfying incremental clicker where destruction becomes progression and razing cities to the ground brings an ancient evil closer to ending it all.

Welcome Initiate.

Your job is simple. Destroy cities. Harvest chaos. Summon an incomprehensible cosmic entity to swallow all of existence and end everything as we know it. We operate remotely, so you're working from home — it's less of a policy and more of a structural integrity issue. Point your mouse at buildings and reduce them to rubble. You'll pick it up fast.

Every demolished structure is another bite-sized offering for the Great Devourer we call Dad. Once the buffet's big enough, he'll show up and handle the rest. Some people call that cosmic horror. We call it space magic. Same thing, better branding. Get to work.

Wield unimaginable cosmic powers (and your mouse) to demolish ever-expanding cityscapes across 40 levels of escalating carnage. As you feed the Great Devourer with the Chaos of your rampage, you will be blessed with Tokens and the honor of taking on greater challenges. Be sure to use those tokens wisely because as the cities get bigger the buildings get tougher.

Do what any red-blooded cultist would do. Turn destruction into profit. Spend Tokens in the shop on permanent upgrades, powerful Boons , and special Relics that make each night of devastation more lucrative than the last. Recharge your Relics between runs and watch your power compound like interest on a really evil savings account.

Wield the power of Relics, ancient artifacts granting abilities that turn you from a humble cultist into a walking apocalypse. Are those dusty old relics not enough power for you? Throw them back into the abyss and be granted Boons straight from the Void. Think of it as a terrible gift exchange...with an eldritch horror. Still thirsty for power? Can't wait for the big guy to show up? Unlock his lesser gods, each packing elemental status effects, spectacular special attacks, and valuable currencies of their own.

As the gaping maw of the nameless terror closes around the earth, you realize summoning it was never really about a higher calling or material wealth. You might've just been bored, and following a crowd is easy.
