Guide: Installing Don't Look! on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Don't Look!? Features and Description

Listen to your footsteps, ambiance, and anomalies around you, and navigate through a giant haunted mansion to find the exit. Find keys to unlock closed doors, try not to get lost, and most importantly, don't take off the blindfold!

          Headphones are strongly recommended!

They can't see you if you can't see them

You have to find your way out of a fully decorated and furnished haunted mansion, navigating only by sound and the slight glimpses you get through your blindfold. Not all doors are open, so you'll have to find the keys to unlock them.

          Listen to your footsteps

The sounds of your footsteps are a crucial indicator in telling you if you are moving forward or against a wall. They also provide you information about the surface you are moving on and help you identify different areas in the mansion.

Orientate yourself by listening to anomalies

There are several noises coming from fixed locations, so you can use them to figure out the direction you want to move towards.

          Don't get stuck on furniture

Since the mansion is in a very orderly state with chairs, tables, cupboards, and other furniture not placed in the middle of the room, there are no corners or crevices you can get stuck in. Still, try not to mistake a small table for a wall or a corner for a dead end.

Remember what this mansion looks like

At certain locations you can remember what a room looks like. This can greatly help you in getting a sense for the layout of the room you are in.

Take off the blindfold once you are out

Once you have found your way out of this mansion, you can take off the blindfold and take a look at what you just went through. You can see if the layout of the mansion is actually the same as you imagined it.
