Guide: Installing High Noon on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is High Noon? Features and Description

In this western brawler you'll step into the boots of a drifter who wants nothing more than to play cards. After winning too much, the local Outlaws want you gone. No guns allowed inside, so you'll have to get creative: smash chairs, swing guitars, and toss bottles to fight off waves of Outlaws.

Saddle up for a game of quick reflexes, clever combat, and wild west showdowns.

“Well, this town used to be somethin’. A frontier paradise, where folks could work hard and drink harder knowin’ their neighbors had their backs. Then those no-good, low-down outlaws showed up, and everythin’ went to hell in a whiskey bottle. My saloon, ain’t just a place to wet your whistle no more—it’s where the gang’s dirty deals go down, and let me tell ya, trouble’s always a’brewin’.

Now, as for that mysterious drifter, he was just some loner who walked in lookin’ for a drink and a card game. Wasn’t stirrin’ up any dust till the gang stirred it fer him. He wasn’t muchuva talker, but I’d seen enough of his types to know when it came down to it, he would be quick with his fists and quicker with a gun. So when it came to high noon, well… I knew I’d rather be sippin’ whiskey with him than standin’ across from him.”

You'll start inside the Rising Sun Saloon and face waves of Outlaws as they enter with a bone to pick. With no guns allowed inside, you'll have to be quick on your feet to find items you can use to knock some sense into the Outlaws.

"Don't worry, honey, if you take damage, you can whistle for me, the tough-as-nails bartender—I'll pour you a drink to keep ya in the fight. A little hair of the dog goes a long way to rebuilding courage…and health."

After clearing the saloon, you just might be called outside for a classic 10 Paces and Turn duel, where a slow-motion quick draw decides the final showdown.
