Guide: Installing Anomaly Zone Renovation on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Anomaly Zone Renovation? Features and Description

A-Zone Renovation is a continuation of the legendary Zone, combining the classic stalker atmosphere with revised mechanics. A large-scale rebalancing, from weapons to economy, a new role-playing system, an improved interface, PvE and PvP activities - the Zone is ready to grow with its community.

The Zone - a rebirth in the best traditions

In Renovation the timeless atmosphere of the Anomaly Zone meets updated rules. We've taken the best from the previous Zone and reworked the mechanics to suit the needs of players, making the Zone even more vibrant and unpredictable. A new interface system, redesigned anomalies, and a revamped economy - exploring dangerous territories has now become truly exciting. If you once craved the classic Zone, it's back - only more dangerous, challenging, and engaging.

          The Zone - new rules

In Renovation all has undergone a major rebalancing: weapon, armor, backpack stats, artifact prices, mutant parts and repair costs have been revised. Equipment timers have been removed, magazines no longer break but are reloaded manually, and all equipment and attachments are no longer character-specific - but they also no longer drop upon respawn or finishing blow. A new reputation system with merchants opens access to exclusive goods, and crafting and item restoration have become deeper and more flexible - success now depends on your level. We're already preparing future updates that will expand the possibilities of PvE, PvP, and tech trees - the Zone will change along with the players.

          The Zone is about discovery

If you're just discovering this world, the Zone is a deadly territory, teeming with anomalies, mutants, and valuable artifacts. Anomalies react to the approach of a player or a thrown stone, forcing you to be on guard. The Mysterious Caravan, in addition to rich fields of artifacts and loot, also spawns a new unique artifact, and guides and exits have been redesigned to make travel more engaging. Each artifact has a freshness level and a chance to be "awaken" - a new mechanic that allows you to transform a find into a stronger version with long-term effects.

The Zone is about people and opportunities

Stalkers now progress along three branches: PvE (crafting materials, chemicals, artifacts), PvP (using weapons and equipment), and Technician (equipment and repairs). By joining the community, you can craft, upgrade, trade equipment, and share experience with other players. Every day factions issue new quests, reputation unlocks new opportunities, and artifact containers preserve loot and prevent it from spoiling. Assemble a team or go alone - stalker friendship and mutual support will help you survive the most dangerous situations.

          The Zone is about battles

Battle-hardened stalkers can master the next stage of the game: arenas, PvP battles, special activities, and unique events. The removal of equipment restrictions and a new economy create fair conditions for battles, while awakened artifacts and rare catalysts offer a chance to surprise your opponents. In Renovation we're laying the foundation for even more activities that will appear as updates progress - the Zone will continue to live and evolve, and it's the players who will help it take on a new identity.
