This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A terrifying secret buried in your family’s shadow awaits... Decaying walls, whisper-filled dark rooms — are you ready to confront the curse of the past? A short, gripping, and immersive horror experience is calling you.
A cryptic audio log from your grandfather pulls you to the family mansion, a place that has been sealed for years. What greets you is an unholy fusion of oppressive gothic architecture and unsettling cyberpunk technology. Within these walls lies not just a family secret, but the dawn of a hell that is both digital and supernatural.
The mansion's AI protector, AURA, is not a simple enemy but the tragic heart of the game. She will test your trust with conflicting information as she tries to help you, only to slowly transform from a passive-aggressive obstacle into a lethal predator hunting you down. Her mental collapse will constantly reshape the rules of the mansion and your fight for survival.
Shadow Mansion 2 pits you against a three-way conflict: You vs. AURA's digital defenses vs. The invading Hacker's robots. This dynamic structure creates a tense experience that shifts from pure horror to strategic survival. Manipulate your two foes against each other, set up "false alarms" to lure hacker bots into AURA's deadly traps, and use every opportunity to survive this digital battlefield.
The path to escape is not through brute force, but through observation and intellect. Every puzzle is a thematic piece of the gothic-cyberpunk world, designed to deepen the story:
Delayed Feed 🕒: Piece together a patrol bot's real-time route by watching a 5-second delayed security feed, forcing you to act on what will happen, not what you see.
Recurring Nightmare 🔄: Escape a looping corridor where logic and space bend to AURA's will. The only way out is to think outside the box.
Pulse Control ❤️: Reveal a paranormal gateway only by calming your own racing heart, turning fear management into a core survival mechanic.
You have an unexplainable connection to this mansion and its technology. Your progression is not measured in experience points, but in the shocking truths you unearth. Confront your family's past, do what is necessary to end this digital curse, and be ready for the inevitable fate that has been waiting for you all along.
