This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Explore a hidden sewer beneath the forest in this tense survival horror game. Play solo or with friends, solve puzzles, stay quiet, and escape a maze of shifting tunnels while a deadly predator hunts you by sound. One wrong move—and you're not getting out.
A 17-year-old urban explorer vanished after venturing into the city’s sewer system, leaving behind chilling footage of his final moments. The official report denied the existence of gators beneath the city—but his friends know the truth. Determined to expose the cover-up, they drop into a entrance located deep in the forest, they descend underground with cameras in hand, only to discover the exit sealed shut with a padlock. Trapped in the twisting tunnels, they must outwit deadly threats, solve puzzles, and unlock the gates to escape before they meet the same fate as their friend.
Once inside, the only way out is to make it through. Navigate the maze of tunnels, solve environmental puzzles, and document your descent with your camera. But make too much noise, and you'll attract the attention of a massive, predatory gator that hunts anything that moves. It’s fast. It’s smart. And it knows these tunnels better than you ever will.
Single-Player and Online Co-op
Play solo for a tense, immersive horror experience, or team up with up to four players in cooperative online multiplayer.
Sound-Triggered Predator
The gator is always listening. Splashing in water, dropping items, even running can give away your location. Stay quiet, move carefully, or die trying.
Environmental Puzzle Solving
Unlock new paths, restore power to locked areas, and work together (or alone) to escape this place.
Multiple Sewer Layouts
With varying maps and randomized elements, every run is different. Learn from your mistakes—but don't expect the same path twice.
Found-Footage Atmosphere
Your only companion is your camera. Record your descent, piece together what happened here, and maybe leave behind something for the next unlucky soul.
Explore the unknown. Stay quiet. Stay alive.
Do you dare to find out what lies beneath?
