This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
A space tactics extraction roguelite. Explore space, pick fights, collect loot, then escape. Upgrade and unlock new ships to strengthen your fleet and face tougher foes.
You are a navigator, a protector of Catharage station. Countless enemies threaten its survival. You must venture out into the unknown, gather strength, and vanquish our foes before they can destroy us. The city stands eternal.

Space tactics roguelite
In Catharage, you pilot a single, large ship through space. Your ship is equipped with weapons and modules that you can use to engage enemies (or evade them). You'll find loot that you can equip or scrap for currency. You will complete missions for Catharage station, earning valuable credits. Should you die, all is lost - but return home in time, and your reward is saved. Use what you recover to upgrade and unlock ships, hire fleet members or pay for one-time bonuses, to face tougher enemies and go further.

Forge your fleet
Unlock 30 different ships to fly, each with their own attributes. Some may be large and slow, but highly armored. Others are nimble and frail, yet hit beyond their size. Discover three weapon types with several special perks that change their behaviour. Find modules that grant attributes or active abilities, such as microwarp drives, cloaking devices, or EMP blasts. Items may come with special traits, such as scaling damage or set bonuses. Loot rolls in rarities ranging from scrap-worthy to run-changing, and every kill may change your chances.

New run, new build
While you become stronger over time through investment in global attribute bonuses, variance exists on a smaller scale as well. Each run, you can find special upgrades that may change its course: Pick up an engineering upgrade before you start and make your weak corvette into a strong brawler. Find a forge to turn a lumbering battleship into a nimble kiter. Every encounter is different. Maybe you'll chance upon a battle in progress and scavenge the remains - or jump straight into a gas cloud that strips your armor, leaving you vulnerable to enemies you once thought beneath you.

Serenity and Mastery
Catharage is a slow-paced but punctuated game. Since you decide where to fly and who to fight, sessions can be as calm or hectic as your taste demands. While space is large and atmospheric, fights can quickly become overwhelming - make sure you're adequately prepared. The game is challenging, but knowledge reigns supreme: Learning about enemies, systems and strategy is key to mastering the encounters and obstacles set before you.

Catharage is a part-time solo development project. A substantial demo is available, make sure you try it to see if the game is for you!
