This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Cosmonade is a real-time competitive PvP game — pilot a ship and destroy everything!
Designed for fans of gameplay that’s both simple and demanding...
A solar system inspired by reality but set in a deliberately absurd and ironic universe.
Face off against other players in matches where skill, team coordination, and reflexes make all the difference.
The gameplay is serious, precise, and balanced, designed from the ground up with e-sports potential in mind.
But that doesn’t mean the game takes itself seriously.
Real-time competitive PvP
An arena without walls offering an extraordinary strategic dimension
Class balance with surgical precision
Skill-based gameplay with zero compromise
A sarcastic yet helpful commander
A chatty, trollish shopkeeper
Daily happy hour, no exceptions
Optimized servers for fast matchmaking
Cross-platform play (PC, mobile, etc.)
A coldly-trolled yet coherent artistic universe
No lootboxes, no pay-to-win — clear pricing only
Under construction for tournaments and community-driven content
In this world, only one being still believes in you: the Commander.
A high-ranking military figure with a dry tone and ironic authority, he accompanies you with one goal in mind: to make you win… and by doing so, protect his own status in the cosmic void of the monad.
He comments on your mistakes with biting humor, swinging between sarcasm and shouted orders.
He gives genuinely useful advice, often hidden under a thick layer of acid-laced mockery.
A reluctant coach… whose survival depends on your talent.
“Space is a vacuum, you're not here to drift even if your engine’s smoking. GO HARVEST SOME ENEMIES!!”
No ship is better than another — each one has its own strengths and purpose.
Cosmetic and mechanical items are sold by a ship enthusiast who often gets lost in her own stories...
She throws anecdotes at you while selling you items.
She hammers you with deliberately ridiculous promotional punchlines.
All with a strong suspicion you never actually asked for anything.
“Working for the commander doesn’t pay? Save up your rookie salary, I’ve got discounts galore!”
The gameplay is built around:
Fast-paced, intense real-time matches!
Ships with distinct roles and stats, made for true teamplay
A map with no walls, where your only limit is your sense of direction
And most of all: a level of balancing that's... rare — pick a ship because you love it, not because it's meta
We’ve spent years studying the best competitive games, analyzing class systems from top to bottom, flipping mechanics inside out to build Cosmonade on a rock-solid base:
Every role matters, every mistake is punished, every victory is earned.
No pay-to-win. No hidden perks. Just pure gameplay.
A good old-school matchmaking system! No one gets left behind.
Let the best players lift everyone up!!
Game stats and leaderboards are purely indicative
Balanced competition in a healthy spirit!
No toxic in-game chat full of rage and modern diseases...
Solo is fun, but with friends? Even better.
Tournaments, sweat, rivalries — but fair play!
Our competitive vision is based on in-person events: local tournaments in halls, gyms, arenas — real places built for serious gameplay under real-world conditions.
Rather than centralizing everything through some automated online system, we’re choosing to focus on community-driven or partner-supported physical events.
This model encourages a competitive scene that’s structured, clear, and verifiable, with everyone competing under the same conditions.
We sell items at clear, displayed prices.
No conversion rates, no fuzzy systems.
See a skin, a module, an animation? You know its price.
And every evening, without exception, enjoy a happy hour with double in-game currency rewards.
Simple, transparent, and unapologetic.
This game is a collective gamble.
It was built by just two people in under a year:
A stubborn and overly ambitious coder, and a graphic designer who gave it everything.
We’re not a megacorp.
We don’t have a seven-figure budget — not even four.
All we have are two brains overheating like maxed-out CPUs, twenty fingers doing all the work, and a determination to shatter any DPS counter in our path.
But above all, we have one belief:
Only a united community can keep a competitive game alive.
The gameplay is demanding, but it only works if every player plays fair, respects others, and contributes to this little organized anarchy we call "fair matchmaking."
Helpfulness, respect, and humor!
To keep up at a global scale, we’ll need you:
Your presence, your feedback, your fair play
And maybe... a passionate network engineer to help us survive what two brains alone might not,
if the servers explode (in a good way).
This isn’t just a game — it’s an experience.
We’re counting on you.
