This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
The mirror calls to you. Down the endless corridor, aged walls and flickering lights cross paths. As your footsteps echo with every step, why do you find yourself frozen before the mirror? Then again, maybe it's not a mirror at all.
"Phil in the Mirror" focuses on the experience of uncovering mysteries through careful observation and reasoning amidst light tension. You must find 'anomalies' as you pass through corridors that look the same every time. However, the true challenge of this game does not end with simply finding the 'different picture'.
Anomalies are both a threat and the only opportunity to open a new path. Every clue depends on your observation and your insight to see through the nature of the phenomenon.
You start on the 9th floor. The corridor you pass through may seem the same every time, but it might not be. You must carefully observe your surroundings to find 'anomalies'.
If you find an anomaly, immediately turn back and get on the elevator you came from.
If there is nothing wrong, take the elevator at the end of the corridor to the next floor.
If you break the rules, you cannot go down to the next floor.
These simple rules will put you to the test. Your observation is your only means of survival.
Does it end with just finding a different picture? The anomalies here are not just 'different pictures', but hold the key to opening tightly closed doors. A ringing phone is not just a source of fear, but an invitation to a story, and rising water is both a crisis and an opportunity to bring forgotten clues to the surface. Grasp the meaning hidden beyond the surface of the phenomenon and use it to advance to a new space.
This building is not just an endless series of corridors. We call this unique experience 'Metroidbrainia'. The clues you decipher and the phenomena you face become the keys to unlocking completely different areas hidden in this space. The deeper you dig, the wider and deeper this world will unfold before you.
Every puzzle is deeply connected to the one great story that this building holds. All the scattered documents, and even the anomalies themselves, are intricately intertwined towards a single truth. Your reasoning will be the power to fit the last piece of this mystery.
In this questionable space, can you face the truth and find the real way out?
