Guide: Installing Deadcam on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Deadcam? Features and Description

Sealed shut inside a rural, abandoned house for a paranormal hunting TV show.. Something is VERY wrong with Margo. Her live headcam is still rolling.. and you can see the whole thing. Run, hide, and escape the house in this first-person survival horror. And remember: the raccoon knows everything.

Deadcam is a first-person psychological horror game where you can see a reactive live-feed facecam of the very thing you must survive.

Sealed shut inside a rural, abandoned house for a paranormal hunting TV show.. Something becomes VERY wrong with your crew member Margo.

Her live headcam is still rolling.. and you can see the whole thing.

Run, hide, and escape the house in this first-person survival horror.

And remember: the raccoon knows everything.

DEADCAM

Set in a rural, abandoned house in the great wilderness, three amateur ghost hunters lock themselves inside to film a new episode for their failing paranormal hunting TV show 'The Ghoul Hunters.' Desperate for higher ratings, the shows producer Dom will do whatever it takes to raise the stakes and keep the show alive.

But things take a turn for the worst almost instantly - and it's already too late. Something is very wrong with Margo. Dom fled and sealed the exit to keep Margo contained, leaving you for dead with her. And when you see Margo, you might wish you were.

FEATURES

  • Margo's live headcam is still rolling: you can see her reactive face the whole time.

  • Watch out for any creaky floorboards and don't make too much noise: Margo can hear your movements.

  • Margo's face will respond to your characters actions.

  • You must sneak, hide, and escape the house. And whatever you do, stay away from Margo.

  • Trust the Raccoon

Will you make it out alive - or will you become the final episode that never aired? If you want to survive.. The Raccoon may be your only ally.

...DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DEMO AND THE FULL GAME?

The full game has been hugely updated and improved from the demo. Amongst many other tweaks, updates and changes, the full game has:

  • Extended gameplay. The full game has a much longer play time and is much more in depth.

  • A general entire overhaul and improvement.

  • A ‘Reciever’ mechanic. Pressing [1] after obtaining the Receiver will emit a pulsing light and beep from Margo’s headcam to help identify where she is.

  • A ‘Tablet’ mechanic. Pressing [SHIFT] after obtaining the Tablet will pull up a real-time tablet screen, to see a clearer and bigger view of Margo’s headcam. This can be used along with the Receiver for an even better understanding of where she is.

  • Hiding places are now more clear.

  • Textures + materials quality improvements.

  • UI improvements.

  • Sound design improvements.

  • Lighting quality improvements.

  • New, more distinctive lights have been placed around the house level, to more easily distinguish where Margo is.

  • There are now Steam Achievements.

  • More Post-It Notes can be found.

  • 5 secret, hidden collectables.

  • Easter Eggs.

  • ...And more!

PHOTO SENSITIVITY WARNING
