This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

The world is plunged into darkness, with only a single warm lighthouse remaining. After you wake up beside it, a [shrill voice] that calls itself your friend echoes in your ear. It wants you to maintain the lighthouse's operation. In the days that follow, this voice becomes increasingly difficult to fathom because:
It periodically sends monsters to damage the lighthouse, yet demands that you repair it.
When you are short on food, it continuously sends supplies.
It often says things that are hard to distinguish between truth and lies.
Simultaneously, another [hoarse voice] communicates with you. It seems to possess boundless dark power. If you offer sacrifices to it, it will grant you:
Various powerful abilities.
The ability to trade with it.
Guidance and assistance.
The entire world is shrouded in darkness. When venturing out to explore, you must raise your torch, carefully illuminating the path ahead, and slowly piece together the shape of this world.
Gather discovered food to fill your stomach.
Search for fuel to maintain the lighthouse; do not let its light go out.
Collect resources to expand your base.
Discover mysteries and surprises hidden throughout the map.
Resources in the wild may not be enough to sustain you. You need to plant seeds and wait for them to grow, harvesting them in the future.
Plant tree seeds to ensure a future supply of wood.
If you build a tree nursery, trees will continuously grow around it.
Build a simple small greenhouse to achieve food self-sufficiency, saving you from running around just to fill your stomach.
Want a hot dinner? Light a fire and start cooking! Even without seasonings, in this barren world, it's more than enough.
Your stomach is growling! The pressure to avoid starvation is no small matter.
Build a simple stove to cook the food you've gathered.
Cooking different foods together provides higher calories and satiety.
To survive in this world full of pressure, you must rely on your own diligent hands. Construct various buildings to bring all sorts of conveniences:
Provide illumination to dispel the darkness.
Unlock knowledge of more building recipes.
Combine several items into another material.
Continuously produce resources for you.
This is my first game released on Steam, an attempt to fuse together various ideas from my mind.
The game is certainly not perfect. After playing, you might complain: "What a trash game!" But it carries my hard work and dedication. I will actively improve it!
