This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Agents of Shadow is a horror RPG crawler set in the Folded World, a reality overlaid on ours, explaining paranormal phenomena. A hybrid of survival horror and dungeon crawler, it draws from urban legends. Features roguelike elements and a strong j-RPG foundation.
How far will you go to repay a debt?
Agents of Shadow is a merciless horror RPG crawler set in the Folded World, a twisted parallel universe where urban legends like the Bogeyman, Bloody Mary (Hanako), Jiangshi, and the endless Backrooms prey on the lost. As Lee, a daring YouTuber, and Nyx, her enigmatic partner bound by a dark pact with Seth, the Folded World’s master, you’ll face 49-minute missions to rescue survivors or sacrifice them. Every choice is a gamble, every second a countdown to madness or death.
Core Features:
Relentless Time Pressure: Each phase grants 49 minutes (7x7 Ritual of the Seven Mirrors). Failures cost 7 minutes; pursuers like the Bogeyman strike every 2 minutes.
Insanity’s Edge: Sanity warps combat 70-90% doubles your damage, but above 90%, it’s slashed to a quarter. Embrace madness or lose everything.
Treacherous World: Navigate 85 adaptive maps with shifting weather, eerie drone soundtracks, and enemies that evolve with every visit.
Strategic Survival: Choose turn-based combat or desperate escapes. Over 100 skills like Dementia (hits all) or Frosty (freezes foes) demand careful charge management.
Moral Abyss: Nyx’s pact forces a brutal choice sacrifice yourself to free him or betray your savior for survival.

Gameplay That Punishes:Drawing from Ib and Silent Hill, Agents of Shadow blends survival horror with tactical RPG elements. Randomized maps, enemy spawns, and exploration points keep each run unpredictable. Combat is turn-based with a twist target enemy weaknesses or risk losing limbs to Jiangshi’s claws. Skills like Blaster exploit elemental affinities, but limited charges and rising insanity make every move a risk. Hide in tall grass or haunted mirrors, but know that fleeing is often your only hope.
A World of Nightmares:The Folded World is unrelenting expect psychological horror, moral dilemmas, and mature themes like betrayal, sacrifice, and loss. This game is for adults only, with heavy content including violence, psychological torment, and tragic choices. Five-language support (English, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Japanese) brings global myths to life, appealing to fans of Mad Father and Fire Emblem.
Trial and Error Survival:With randomized elements and a brutal 7-shard soul system (lose all, and it’s game over), Agents of Shadow demands you learn from every mistake. Equip over 50 items, master 100+ skills, and explore a glossary of 100 themes to survive. Run, hide, or fight but every choice has a cost.
The world of Agents of Shadow is UTTERLY BLEAK. THIS GAME IS INTENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY! Extreme violence and gore are daily sights in the Folded World, and death is one of the easier escapes. The game features drug use, substance abuse, and heavy themes ranging from sacrifice to violence against children. None of these themes are taken lightly, however. They are woven into the world-building to craft a unique atmosphere that tests how far players will go to survive.

Parts of the map layouts, events, items, and enemy placements are randomized with variations to keep each playthrough fresh. Agents of Shadow employs a bespoke adaptive system where frequently visited maps alter monster behavior, music, weather, and more. The game is built on an innovative time-is-life mechanic death isn’t final if you have time left to bargain. This isn’t about fighting enemies to grow stronger; combat is an unwanted consequence. Your goal is to flee, survive, and rescue. Fighting is the last resort before death. Learn from your mistakes, and you’ll soon delve deeper into the Folded World’s horrors.
Combat in Agents of Shadow is turn-based, akin to classic RPGs, but with a unique twist. Characters have affinities for specific weapons, and monsters are weak to certain elements. Each skill has severely limited charges tied to equipped gear, and an insanity system can amplify or cripple your damage if not carefully managed. But don’t forget—fleeing threats is often the best choice. Survival demands creativity: find better equipment, learn spells, rescue survivors, strike pacts, or perform rituals drawn from REAL urban legends. Hide in protected areas, but be wary immortal pursuers will hunt you in a hybrid ARPG-turn-based system. Time is your lifeblood, and controlling it is key.
Warning: This game is unrelenting, with intense psychological horror, brutal mechanics, and morally crushing choices. Only the cunning will endure the Folded World.
