This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Mother Nature has no mercy! Turn bug swarms into fertilizer as a mutated plant. Take root, evolve, and create your garden of death with unique combos. You are the top of the food chain in this chaotic arena!
Bug Bane Survivors places you not at the bottom of the food chain, but at the very top. As a furious mutated plant, turn the thousands of bugs trying to eat you into fertilizer for your growth.
This isn't just about survival; it's about revenge.
Start as a simple sprout, evolve into a deadly forest. In Bug Bane Survivors, every run is unique.
Limitless Build Possibilities: Toxic thorns, explosive pollen, and swords raining from the sky... Design your own death machine with hundreds of item combinations.
Manual Aiming: Unlike other games, there are no auto-attacks here. Amidst the chaos, you must choose where to strike. Trust your reflexes.
Visual Feast: Feel the satisfying chaos of hundreds of enemies exploding on screen simultaneously.
Rewards aren't served on a silver platter here. You have to seize them.
Timed Chest Mechanic: Upon leveling up, 3 chests appear, but only one holds the true treasure. You have only a few seconds to make your choice and break the chest.
Speed and Focus: Find the right chest, smash it quickly, grab your reward, and return to the fight. Hesitate, and the reward vanishes.
Merely wiping out the swarm isn't enough; every map offers a unique challenge.
Objective-Based Gameplay: Sometimes you'll defend a vital BioCore or the Eye Stone—the plants' last hope—and other times you'll race against the clock just to save your own skin.
Unique Boss Battles: At the end of each map, the king of that ecosystem awaits you. One might trap you in a confined space, while others lay entirely different deadly snares.
Narrative Depth: As you progress through 5 different maps, piece together the story behind the mutation and the world's collapse.
You are no longer the gardener; you are the garden itself.
