This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

He's the main character of the story, a vibrant adventurer with fiery red hair and eyes full of curiosity. Adol left his first adventure land, Esteria, at age 17 and was believed to have set off for Celceta. However, according to one of the adventure logs found in his family home, it's revealed that he had visited Obelia Bay with the former thief Dogi before heading to Celceta.
The sole daughter of Grimmson, the leader of the Baltan Navy. Karja leads the rough seafarers in piracy with confidence, earning her the moniker 'Pirate Princess' among the people of Karnack who have seen her in action. While she possesses elegant features, she is armed with a hatchet and a round shield, displaying a ruthless, Norman fighting style.
A sharp-featured young man from the Kingdom of Danmorc, Canute always seems listless and hard to pin down.
Despite his laid-back demeanor, he’s a first-rate warrior known as “Canute the Bloodshedder.” He’s also the son of Sver, the ruler of Danmorc, who is currently invading the Seven Kingdoms of Britai. He once fought alongside his cousin Karja during a campaign in Britai.
A brilliant tactician, he once saved the outnumbered Norman forces by devising a strategy that turned the tide of battle. Still, Karja has an inexplicable aversion to him.
A female Norman who serves as Canute’s Shield Sister and also his second-in-command.
Though she does not possess the power of Mana, she has sharp instincts and excels at logistical support.
Cheerful and friendly, she speaks to Adol and Karja with an open heart, but is often curt toward Canute likely due to frequently having to deal with his difficult behavior.
Still on their mission to hunt down the undead Griegr, Adol and Karja continue exploring Obelia Bay aboard the sailing ship Sandras.
Their journey leads them to the largest island in Obelia Bay—Öland Island—where they encounter the Shield Siblings, Canute and Astrid, visitors from the Kingdom of Danmorc.
Why have the Normans, who supposedly hold a non-aggression pact with the Balta Navy, chosen this moment to appear in Obelia Bay?
And what secrets lie hidden on this island, where Balta Navy leader Grimson once conducted a mysterious investigation?
Through the eyes of two pairs of Shield Siblings, this new story arc delves deeper into the origins of the Normans and the mysterious power known as Mana.

Master quick steps and dashes to chain together blistering combos and take down your enemies!
A swift attack that slices through enemies ahead while moving forward. Fast to execute, this skill chains easily into combos following regular attacks.
An advanced version of Raid Slash. Adol slashes through enemies while tracing star-like patterns around himself, wiping out any foes in his path.
Fires a wave of Mana energy from the tip of the sword to strike distant enemies. With low SP cost, it’s an excellent choice for keeping enemies at bay.
An advanced version of Mana Shoot. Unleashes an ultra-dense beam of searing Mana energy in a powerful long-range attack.
Rushes forward with a round shield, slamming into enemies. While active, the skill allows you to perfect guard against incoming attacks.
An advanced version of Shield Bash. A powerful Norman-style combo attack that combines shield bashes, axe strikes, and kicks in rapid succession.
A simple but forceful upward axe strike. Launches enemies into the air, leaving them vulnerable.
