Guide: Installing Geamana Village on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is Geamana Village? Features and Description

A first-person investigative game set in a drowned village. Explore abandoned homes, speak with the last remaining locals, and capture through your lens the destruction left behind by the toxic sludge. Gather evidence, follow every clue, and uncover the truth hidden beneath silence and decay.

Geamana Village is a slow-paced, atmospheric investigative experience that invites you to explore a devastated place. As you make your way through the last isolated homes spared by the flood, you’ll speak with the few remaining locals, examine abandoned belongings, and uncover fragments of a life once lived. In the distance, the remnants of the village church still stand, silent, damaged, and waiting to be discovered.

Core Features

Investigative Photography

Capture the ruins, the toxic lake, and haunting traces of the disaster. Each photo serves as both evidence and memory, revealing details overlooked by the eye.

Interview Locals

Speak with the last remaining locals. Their trust must be earned and their stories often conflict, leaving you to decide what to believe.

Search for Clues

Find letters, reports, personal notes, and official documents scattered across the village. Every page is a missing piece of the puzzle.

Earn Trust, Unlock Stories

Help locals with small tasks. Only those who trust you will share their deepest memories.

Explore at Your Own Pace

Walk at your own rhythm through a quiet, haunting space shaped by memory, silence, and irreversible damage.

Story

A story buried under poison and silence.

In 1977, during communist rule, mining operations poisoned an entire valley. Toxic water was released without warning, swallowing homes overnight. Families fled or vanished, and a once-thriving village was drowned beneath a lake of waste.

Twenty years later, Moloce Arcip, a former journalist desperate for redemption, hears a radio report about a forgotten village, and sees one last chance to rebuild his career and uncover a story the world tried to erase.

Armed only with your camera and a notebook, you set out to document the traces of what remains. Silence rules the empty streets. A few locals remain, clinging to their homes despite the danger. The spire of the church still juts from the toxic lake, a lonely monument to everything that was lost.

Inspired by true events. Step into a story buried for 20 years.
