This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Ani Idle is an Idle-like RPG in which you will have to fight a variety of enemies. Kill them, collect their loot, take a rest, do some quests and craft your gear to become more and more powerful.
Ani Idle is a Fantasy RPG with an Idle-like playstyle. Jump into a short adventure and try to kill all the enemies and clear all the dungeons.
While not fighting, you might feel like taking a rest, do some quests or craft your gear to make it more powerful.
You will have different stats like attributes (used for quests), regeneration, crit chance, chance for DoTs or just raw damage. Damage types include physical, fire, ice and lightning - the same goes for your resistances.
Find the best combinations to fight your enemies, because they have the same kind of stats.
Depending on your weapon you will have one of five classes and each class has their own skill you can use in combat.
Start with some low-level slimes, like every good adventurer does. Soon you will kill more dangerous enemies and loot their gear to make it yours. Kill enough of them to also level up and become stronger and stronger.
When you are ready, start exploring dungeons, that will contain several enemies in a row. This is the only place, where you cannot flee, so be prepared!
Good adventurers will have to do some quests from time to time. Explore weird places, help some people (or not) and gather some loot here as well. Each quest will let you choose between three options and sometimes they just have random outcomes and could also depend on your attributes.
You deserve it!
Sort and check your precious loot. Equip your gear or see what kind of delicious consumables you might find.
If you have already found some crafting crystals, this is your place to be! Use them to reroll your gear, try to make it the best you currently need.
Of course there are Achievements to collect and hunt! Some might be easy, but others might need some more research. Check the menu for some advice on how to get them.
Ani Idle is the very first game I developed. It started as a hobby and grew into something special. I am proud to have made it this far and hope you will like my little Idle-like RPG adventure game as much as I do.
