This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
Soap is a fast-paced 3D platformer built on classic FPS movement mechanics. Master bunny hopping, strafing, and momentum-based traversal to reach the golden record in every level.
Welcome to Soap!
A high-energy, movement-based platformer and time trial — are you ready to get linked in?
Reach the golden record at the end of each map. Go for high scores or race for the fastest time!
Think of Soap maps like skatepark-style sandboxes. The golden record is placed in a challenging, hard-to-reach spot — so get a feel for the movement and the map before going all in.
Pro tip: Don’t stop moving! If you lose momentum, the link to the map breaks and you’ll need to respawn. Watch out for those sneaky angles that can kill your flow!
Classic FPS movement mechanics, modernized for a smooth and satisfying feel
Online leaderboards
Bunny hop your way to the goal at the end of each level
Build insane speed and momentum
Pull off flips, 360s or go backwards for extra style
Advanced and unique air-strafing system
Full original soundtrack
Five maps in season 1 with more to come!
Turn off the music and play to your own vibe, or enjoy the OST
Easy to learn — hard to master
Compete for the best times and highest scores
Huge replayability
Hey everyone,
It’s been a dream of mine to make a movement-focused game ever since I grew up playing surf and KZ maps. With Soap, I wanted to capture that smooth, satisfying feel while creating something original and unique.
This is an early access version featuring the first 5 maps. The points and timing system is ready — race against your best times or chase those high scores. Share your runs and let the community see what you can do!
I’ve got a ton of maps and features planned for full release, and early access will get regular updates, including:
Video recording for runs
Bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements
Seasonal content drops with new maps and game modes with season 2 dropping in Autumn
I want Soap to be a community-driven game, so your feedback and support mean the world. Whether you’re here to break records, share clips, or just chill — you're welcome. Ill be sharing dev logs on the Soap discord.
Join the Discord and hang out
Let’s move.
