This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Welcome to Chronicles of Crossing Time.
In this game, you will experience the intense battle for succession in an imperial court. Whether you are drawn into it passively or choose to take part actively, every decision you make will involve intricate struggles of human nature—conflicts, political intrigue, intertwining relationships, life and death, separation and farewells, and of course, sweet moments of romance.
Beyond the game’s content itself, I’d like to share a bit about the creation of this game.
This is an interactive story-driven game that I developed entirely on my own. Unlike large-scale productions, this genre does not rely on complex mechanics or interactive systems. Instead, I focused most of my efforts on crafting the story. Think of it more like a drama where the audience can shape the fate of the characters. I have tried to avoid awkward dialogue or forced plot twists, striving to ensure that each character’s actions are logical and that the story flows naturally.
As for the visuals, sound effects, and background music—all of them are supported by AI tools. I am grateful for how AI technology has helped bring my ideas to life (though I must say, AI is still a long way from being a complete replacement for creative production).
The game offers multiple possible endings depending on your choices. How many? Two? Three? Four? Or perhaps more? That is for you to discover on your own. I have carefully written each ending with a complete storyline, ensuring consistent depth and quality—there will be no rushed or incomplete conclusions.
If you enjoy rich, emotionally resonant narratives and vivid, well-rounded characters—and if you are willing to immerse yourself in such a story—I hope that Chronicles of Crossing Time will offer you an enjoyable and memorable experience.
If you have any thoughts or feedback, I warmly welcome you to reach out and connect.
