Guide: Installing The 1500 Year Old Forest Elf and My Anti-Materiel Sniper Rifle on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

What is The 1500 Year Old Forest Elf and My Anti-Materiel Sniper Rifle? Features and Description

1000 years ago, an alliance of humans and elves drove back the invasion of dragons. Peace was meant to return. Instead, humanity descended into endless bloodshed and tyranny. 1000 years later, the last surviving elves must defend their forests against man-made dragons forged from far deeper cruelty.

The elves were never meant to live this long.

The dragon invasion from 1000 years ago was supposed to have wiped them out - perhaps with a few straggling survivors lingering on as pawns in the bloody games of human empires that followed.

They were never meant to exist under the same sky as the first operational steam engine, or watch the first biplanes claw their way through it.

And they certainly weren’t meant to witness their ancient forests reduced to ash by modern artillery systems and advanced autonomous drone swarms.

          But two of them did.

In a sense, things are not so different from that legendary war all those years ago - the dragons are now mechanical, but they can still be felled. Instead of the hero himself, his 47th descendant has returned to fulfil his pledge. And behind them, yet another deeply flawed human kingdom to defend.

... The 1000 years of accumulated umbrage, however, is an entirely different beast altogether.

          Features:

          • Tactical auto-battler combat stages woven into a broader, overarching story.

          • Carefully position your units, evade enemy bombardments, call in air support from human allies, utilize the terrain and each character’s unique strengths to plan your defenses.

          • Lead the final defenders of the Kurelian forests against massive, relentless swarms of airships and drones.

          • Follow the story and ultimate fate of the last surviving elves and their final party of dragonslayers, as the slow inevitability of change, progress, decay, and death closes in around them.

          Early Access:

          • This game is launching in Early Access with Part 1 fully playable, including all core systems and a complete, self-contained story arc.

          • A total of 4 parts are planned, released gradually through consistent updates that will add new stages, characters, enemies, and story chapters.

          • The game is expected to remain in Early Access for 4–6 months, until all 4 planned parts are released.

          • The price of the game may increase as more content is added, but for those who already brought the game, all future updates are included at no extra cost regardless of when the game is purchased (It won't be locked behind a DLC or anything like that).
