This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
🧠 BRAINROOMS is a grotesque horror born from a twisted internet: rotten memes, entities laughing at you, rooms that feel all wrong. A trashy, surreal nightmare where you scream, laugh, and lose your mind. Survive… if you can even grasp what’s happening.
The internet has lost its mind. And you're trapped inside.
A horror that doesn’t ask for permission.
Enter a mental maze where every room is a rotten meme, every corridor an anxiety attack, and every entity a nightmare laughing at you.
BRAINROOMS is a one-of-a-kind horror experience: a mix of fear, absurdity, cultural trash, and disturbing brilliance.
A game that makes you scream… and then laugh at how hard you're screaming.
💀 "It's not just jumpscares. It's a visual mindfuck."
You’ll face classic horror settings… rewritten in even more twisted, creative, and disturbing ways.
Faded poolrooms, soaked in a murderous silence.
Endless backrooms, dripping with oppressive déjà vu.
Brainrot-rooms, never-before-seen scenarios spawned from a feverish internet.
Every room is a visual trap. Every environment has something off, unsettling… and insanely fascinating.
🔪 "Every entity has a face. And it's laughing at you."
Forget the usual monsters. Here you’ll find:
Deformed, grotesque, disturbing living memes
Original nightmare-fuel creatures
Brainrot icons reimagined as horror abominations
They all want you dead. But first, they want to break your mind.
Chased by things you can’t understand, you’ll realize the real horror… is how much fun you're having.
The core is simple:
Survive. Explore. Find the brainrot objects. Discover the truth.
But every step is a risk. Every item a possible mistake. Every corner a lurking threat.
Dynamic, unpredictable jumpscares
Mysterious and creepy collectibles
Cryptic notes telling a disturbing past
Secret events that change everything
It’s not just horror.
It’s anxiety with a grin. Fear with style.
Once the story ends… the chaos truly begins.
Unlock exploration mode and:
Revisit every environment with no limits
Tweak the rules: more monsters? More brainrot? All just a click away
Discover every secret, every hidden glitch
Replay to collect 100%… or just to lose your mind a little more
Every run is different.
Every return, more dangerous.
Because no other game blends trash and terror like this.
Because it’ll make you laugh, scream, and stay up at night.
Because it’s an original, insane, inspired, one-of-a-kind project.
Because internet horror has finally found its home.
You’ve seen the backrooms. But you’ve never lived them like this.
