This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.
You wake up trapped in a creepy, abandoned village — no lights, no friends, just you... and a whole lot of trouble. You’ve got one job: save the poor, caged Brainrot animals that the terrifying Tung Tung Sahur has locked up... and get them out safely.
You wake up trapped in a creepy, abandoned village — no lights, no friends, just you... and a whole lot of trouble. You’ve got one job: save the poor, caged Brainrot animals that the terrifying Tung Tung Sahur has locked up... and get them out safely.
Sounds easy? Oh, sweet summer child.
Tung Tung is always hunting. He knows you're here. He can smell your fear.
And he’s not alone.
Bombardino Crocodilo patrols the village skies, randomly bombing the map. When you hear him coming, you'd better find cover fast — or you’ll end up extra crispy.
Bombombini Gusini, Bombardino’s relentless brother, is circling above you at all times. If he spots you, he’ll immediately snitch to Tung Tung, who will come sprinting after you like he just clocked out for lunch.
Each time you play, new Brainrot animals need rescuing. New paths, new panic, new escape strategies. Will you sneak, run, or... cry a little in a corner?
Do you have what it takes to outsmart Tung Tung, dodge bombs, and free the Brainrot before it’s too late?
You better hope so.
Rescue the Brainrot Animals!
Scattered across the map are 3 cages, each holding a Brainrot animal in need of rescue. To unlock a cage, you must find the missing words from the poem engraved on it, but beware! Some words are decoys meant to throw you off.
Dodge the bombs dropped by Bombardino Crocodilo and watch out for Tung Tung Sahur, if they catch you, it’s game over!
Every run is unique. The cage locations, the Brainrot animals inside, and the placement of words across the map change every time you play.
Chill: No enemies. Take your time, explore the map, find the cages, and piece together the poems to save your Brainrot friends.
Normal:One Bombombini Gusini, one Bombardiro Crocodilo, and one Tung Tung Sahur are on the loose.
Brainrot:For the bravest players only! Face one Bombombini Gusini, plus three Bombardiro Crocodilo and three Tung Tung Sahur.
