This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.
1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."
Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.
Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.
2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.
3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.
4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Cherry, the mysterious spirit of the cherry tree who suddenly appears before the protagonist, is voiced by Rin Kurusu—known for her role as Hime Anyoji in Love Live! Hasunosora Girls’ High School Idol Club and for performing the ending theme of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3.

■Wathy
A spirit born from nature itself, who has protected the main character’s town for centuries.
As a second-class high ranked spirit, she keeps a close eye on Cherry to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Though serious about her role, she’s curious about human culture… and secretly loves ketchup.
■CV. Saku Mizuno
Wathy, the spirit of the lake and Cherry’s overseer, is a high-ranking spirit from the spirit world—yet oddly fascinated by human culture. She’s voiced by Saku Mizuno, known for iconic roles like Ryo Yamada in Bocchi the Rock! and Ryuu Jusetsu in Raven of the Inner Palace.
Wathy’s mix of tsundere charm and curiosity is brought to life in a performance you won’t forget.
■Yuri Takai
The main character’s childhood friend—smart, athletic, and the class rep.
She’s dependable and always looking out for the main character, even if she can be a bit bossy.
She cared for the main character since they were kids, but as Cherry grows closer with him, her feelings start to get complicated.
■CV. Yurina Uchiyama
Yuri Takai, the athletic class representative and model honor student, is voiced by Yurina Uchiyama—known for her role as Haruna Mutsuishi in CUE! and as a member of the voice acting unit DIALOGUE+.
Her energetic and heartfelt portrayal brings Yuri’s bright personality to life, especially in those rare, tender moments.
■Shoko Ina
The main character’s landlady and homeroom teacher.
She’s calm, sharp-tongued, and has a mature air, but always keeps an on the main character.
Like an older sister, she knows when to push—and when to playfully tease.
■CV. Non Harusaki
Ms. Shoko Ina, who plays both the landlady of the main character's home and their homeroom teacher, is voiced by Non Harusaki, known for roles like Misuzu Hataya in Gakuen Idolmaster and Asagao Fujita in Assault Lily: Last Bullet. She’s like a big sister—sometimes caring, sometimes strict—but always someone who gives the protagonist the push they need.
