Guide: Installing Brainrot's HAMSTER GAME on Linux with Steam Proton

This guide describes how to use Steam Proton to play and run Windows games on your Linux computer. Some games may not work or may break because Steam Proton is still at a very early stage.

1. Activating Steam Proton for Linux:
Proton is integrated into the Steam Client with "Steam Play." To activate proton, go into your steam client and click on Steam in the upper right corner. Then click on settings to open a new window. From here, click on the Steam Play button at the bottom of the panel. Click "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles."

Alternatively: Go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play and turn on the "Enable Steam Play for Supported Titles" option.

Valve has tested and fixed some Steam titles and you will now be able to play most of them. However, if you want to go further and play titles that even Valve hasn't tested, toggle the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" option.

2. Choose a version
You should use the Steam Proton version recommended by Steam: 3.7-8. This is the most stable version of Steam Proton at the moment.

3. Restart your Steam
After you have successfully activated Steam Proton, click "OK" and Steam will ask you to restart it for the changes to take effect. Restart it. Your computer will now play all of steam's whitelisted games seamlessly.

4. Launch Stardew Valley on Linux:
Before you can use Steam Proton, you must first download the Stardew Valley Windows game from Steam. When you download Stardew Valley for the first time, you will notice that the download size is slightly larger than the size of the game.
This happens because Steam will download your chosen Steam Proton version with this game as well. After the download is complete, simply click the "Play" button.

Personal Note from the Creator

Apologies if this is cheesy or pretentious but hey this is my game I do what I want...

This game has taught me what it means to create. The value of art, I feel, comes when you can feel the presence of a soul within. When you create art, you impart your identity into it simply by virtue of you creating it, meaning in effect, it becomes an extension of yourself. Therefore, to reach down and express yourself to the fullest extent into your creation you must also understand yourself to know what there is to express. For me this has meant working on my habits, my connections, my worldview, and everything I can possibly do to be happy, because only by thoroughly enjoying the creation process will that joy be reflected on the other side. This has been my first big project I've ever released and I think it does feel authentically myself, but I definitely ain't stopping here. No art is perfect because no one can be perfectall we can we do is strive to create bigger and better things by continuously trying to be bigger and better ourselves.

I urge you to create something, to experience the pain, the embarrassment, and the deep sense of fulfillment that comes from dedicating your entire self to something and ascribing your identity to it for all the world to see. I've definitely felt like I've come out the other side a better person. I've worked with such beautiful people to be here, especially my good friend Kenneth who did all the art, music, and more, and I feel by going through this difficult self-reflective journey together, we've really gotten to know a deeper side of one another. Without him and everyone whose supported me, I could not accomplish anything close to this, so thanks guys :D and with all that said...

I genuinely hope playing this game brings some value to your life.
